Taylor had just been banjoed by Pavlick, as for him beating Lacy he got knocked down in the process and everybody knows Lacy was never the same after the Calzaghe fight. Froch did not even deserve to beat Johnson or Dirrell, especially Johnson who won by at least 4 rounds for me. Massively over rated fighter.
Carl Froch vs. Andre Ward II would be left jab persay etc. I know they both fight from the opposite of the southpaw stance etc.
atsch No he doesn't though, Calzaghe beat more champions and more contenders and has also beaten better champions. Froch's best win is over a guy who was well past it years on from being beaten by Calzaghe, and he could not even do it as convincingly as Calzaghe. Also Froch looked like utter ****e vs. an over 40 with over 10 losses on his record and two below 20 bouters who had never boxed at world level.
Ward had a broken hand the first time he boxed Froch. Taylor put on a clinic against him too until he gassed. As for Abraham see his fight with Smith.
A prime Calzaghe, the one who dropped Eubank and TKO'd Mitchell would have just as much chance of a KO as he would of being KO'd.
Calzaghe has Kessler, a debatable SD over old Hopkins and good performance against a hyped but limited Lacy. His win over Eubank was a decent stepping stone fight for him at the time but the ten years between that and the Lacy fight are are filled with nothing of note, nothing. Calzaghe was a good fighter and had a good finish to his career, but this rewriting of history has to stop, lets not forget that Calzaghe got booted off Skysports because his title defences were so bad and no one was tuning in to watch them, which says it all. And for the record, the only champions that Calzaghe beat were Lacy and Kessler, which two, the same amount as Froch.
The most overrated of jabs is Larry Holmes.. not 'that powerful' and never uses it for 12 rounds. There's more powerful jabs and more frequent ones used today.
Calzaghe definitely the more talented boxer and beating Chaves for Froch IMO will not make Froch's resume any better. Calzaghe would have outboxed Froch by a mile. No credit taken away from Froch a great British fighter, but would not rate him above Joe.
100% agree. Chavez at middleweight struggled whenever I saw him and was never an elite fighter. I've never seen him have a dominant performance. Him moving up makes sense as he always looked far too big for MW, but he should prove himself at SMW before sharing the ring with Froch.
Eubank Reid Woodhall Brewer Mitchell Lacy Bika Kessler Hopkins Jones jr All champions or former champions. Plus you claim Lacy was overated then what the hell was Bute. Also Froch had very debatable wins over Dirrell and imo struggled with Johnson. Put into the mix his loss to Kessler and his one sided drubbing by Ward.
