For those of you that don't know, Carl Froch has been in the wrong place at the wrong time when it comes to getting media attention in the UK. Originaly he won the the world title over Pascal which got about 5 million viewers and was a great fight on terestial TV, but unfortunetly since then he has not had a good platform to get a main stream following since ITV pulled out of boxing, Setanta went bust and Sky did not want to make work with Mick Hennesy. Many felt that the loyalty Froch showed to Hennesy was destroying his chances of becoming a mainstream star. He had a few fights on Primetime when it was first getting started which didn't get the advertising needed to attract the viewers the fights deserved. Only boxing fans really knew him. After years of loyalty to Hennesy he decided it was time to change promoter to secure a big fight on Sky, but now Sky have pulled out of PPV and the Hearn's only work with them. To add insult to injury Primetime have just put a massive investment into boxing.
Doubt it very much Froch doesnt have any kind of draw here in the UK. I doubt even primetime will put up for it, but I could be wrong.
No Froch-Johoson was on regular Sky and unless Froch can get out of his contract with the Hearn's I don't see that happening. The Hearn's make most of their money from other sports with Sky. I don't see them going behind Sky's back.
I don't think Froch-Ward was ever going to be PPV, If Froch wins & wins big his PPV value would go way up & a possible fight with Bute would then be on Sky Box Office, I reckon they could even sell a Froch-Groves fight if he loses but makes a good fight outta ward,
Sky are showing this fight as Eddie Hearn won't burn his bridges with them for an extra 50 grand or whatefer
This sky business sucks but in the long run it will be good. Hardly anybody knows of primetime Mayweather while a big star isnt going to get decent ppv at 5am in the UK.
