That’s how I saw it also. An express election. It also made me wonder if Usyk was using the Dubois fight to test the waters for incorporating a more aggressive accent for the Fury fight. Not aggressive like that for the whole fight but as and when the right opportunities arise against Tyson - a bit of change up. Just my own subjective speculation of course.
Its not all about Fury. Some fans say all the time "if Fury is will be in top shape then him and if he is out of shape Usyk win". That's too simple and I think it is disrespectful for Oleksander. Because when Fury was in top shape? Against Wladimir? Maybe Wilder 2? But who is Wilder? What style Wlad have? That's totally different boxers than Usyk with totally different problems for Fury. Both are big punchers, with straight punches as main weapon. Both was little slower or similar speed as him but with litlle worse size. Its possible that Fury looks best (and we now judge him by this best win) but vs totally different style and problem. Usyk is different. Usyk is smaller, punching power its not problem here. Problem here is Usyk is quicker, he is smaller but he have great chin and he is phisical strong. He also fight like fighting with "sword" (I dont know english Word for this olimpic sports with "szabla", "szpada" and more). He punch very often, move very, very well, he throw at You bunch of punch. Its hard to win decision with this kind of dancer. He is almost Perfect. And he got Wolf character. It might happend that even quick, trying move backward behind jab Fury will have massive problems. Because end of the day he must punch too. And Usyk will be trying catch him then even more.
Certainly planted his feet more, but looked strategic to me. Dubois didn’t pose AJ’s size, experience or threat.
Got battered around the ring by bertberiev and Bridies gave him a tough going. Fury is going to make Usyk shrivel he can't handle a real big man hitting him all night and Fury has all the tools to hit him. Dubious and AJ are plodding bums who can't handle a bit of stick. Fury loves a bit of stick. It makes him horny. Southpaw. Liver exposed all night. Easy to force Usyk to move left but will want to move right. Usyk is in a tough spot. He's not as much as pure slickster as people like to believe which he needs to be to beat Fury. Fury at half mass fighting an ugly brawl is Usyks hope....but can he still use then legs for 12 rounds to avoid that black hole chasing him?
Let's see: Usyk: - Multiple amateur championship gold medals, including world championship - Olympic god medalist - Undisputed cruiserweight champion - Unified heavyweight champion - Never been knocked down - never been out of shape Fury: - Doesn't have much known success in amateur competitions - Unified heavyweight champion for only 1 year - Current WBC champion - Known for having a nasty habit of getting knocked down - known for drug use and undisciplined living style When you add these things up, I don't see Fury winning this. I think it'll be an easy night for Usyk, a round 10 KO win for him.
Usyk looked like a phenom first 4 rounds against the bodybuilder then he dropped down a gear and cruised styling in him. 2nd fight much slower out of the gate. The spark wasn't there but still had more than enough to outpoint the dosser. I was expecting to see more but it wasn't there. I assume fury bout will be the same. Hot out the gate but Fury will slow him quickly then the end 4 rounds decide the fight. If Usyk is reeling from Fury's power mid bout then it's a grim outlook if not it's a points decision fight.
We all know what Usyk will bring to the table. Fury is the unknown factor. If the Fury of the Nganou fight shows up, Usyk whoops him. But, if the Fury from Wilder 2 shows up, it will be a tough fight for Usyk. I also think the ref can make a big difference. If the ref can keep Fury from holding and leaning, even if Fury is focused and ready, Usyk has a good chance still.
Fury's height and reach should give him an advantage - but if he's unable to use it enough, he won't be able to take advantage of those physical gifts... And he's not really looked like he could make good use of it in his more recent fights. The other big question around Fury is exactly where his level really has been since his return and just how much he's got to give - he looked good in Wilder 2, but Wilder being so limited raises questions (as does Fury winning Wilder 3 despite being unfit). Usyks an elite operator - he might be on the smaller side for a heavyweight and not the biggest puncher (which isn't to say he's particularly feather fisted, he's just not a murderous one-punch KO artist - neither is Fury, though)... But his skills are elite and he's got a higher ring IQ than Fury, too. I'm expecting Usyk to win very wide at this point.
I don't know how Usyk will manage to get past Fury's long shield-like arms if he has lost his movement.
I’ve thought Usyk would beat Fury for a while but for some reason now I think Fury will stop him. I can just see it coming
