Imo, Fury will know well before we do as to whether he will turn up or not. I see it going one of either two ways: - 1) Continue working hard to maintain the shape he’s currently in, taking advantage of the training he’s already done to date OR 2) Immediately fall off his current conditioning and be unable to rein himself back in by Dec. The set course for either option is already in process - option 2) decides his fate right now. Option 1) has to be strictly maintained through to Dec. Orchestrating for a rematch in Oct is exactly that - just an orchestration. Fury has sung that song before. UNLESS, in gunning for the Oct date, Fury was legitimately looking to limit the interim period during which he might fall off the wagon. I guess that is possible. If Fury does balloon, he obviously won’t come out early in the piece and state that he won’t be in shape by Dec. Rather, he’ll likely string it along until the 11th hour and then find some excuse to pull out/postpone. Fury got an extension for the first fight. There is no way he was going to come in as low as 262 lbs in March. The postponement just so happened to allow Fury sufficient time to come into the rescheduled match in the best shape possible at this stage of his career. Lucky, wasn’t he?
