Will Gamboa struggle with Mtagwa like Lopez did?

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by LordSharpshire, Dec 1, 2009.

  1. Lopez went life-and-death with Mtagwa for all intents and purposes and I was curious what the general consensus was on this board on how Gamboa fares against Mtagwa since there seems to be so many clamoring for a Gamboa-Lopez fight in the near future. Does Gamboa look better/worse against Mtagwa?

If Gamboa doesnt land hard and often early in the fight, I can see Mtawa coming on and frustrating him...possibly making it a tought fight...but nothing like the kind of fight Juanma had.

  4. Based on what exactly?

Gamboa's just more of a power puncher than Juanma, I think he'll be able to take Mtagwa out early.

Gamboa and Juanma have different styles so will deal with different fighters and different ways. That's what makes a potential matchup between the two of them so exciting.

I think that was just one of those bad nights Lopez had and Mtagawas best night kind of flukes. Id say Gamboa doesnt have to tuff a time with Mtagawa.

if mtagwa goes toe to toe with gamboa, that's playing into gamboa's game. gamboa has never been seriously hurt, but he's been dropped. i think gamboa has more pop in his punches than lopez, but lopez's workrate is off the hook! so if lopez can't hurt gamboa, he may be able to outpunch him and has a better chin than gamboa. probably best fight 126 and under. Another Battle of the Little Giants.

Lopez didin't had the right gameplan for that fight He fought like a brawler thinking that He was going to overpower and ko Mtagwa, and that was and error.

Gamboa more of a power puncher than JuanMa??? HA!!!!!

Gamboa has more speed and that's it. He might stop Mtagwa but it will be from blinding combos or for a punch Mtagwa doesnt see. But Gamboa aint hittin Mtagwa harder than JuanMa did.

Gamboa will give Mtagwa a Cuban boxing lesson. Mtagwa does'nt have the defence, speed nor amateur pedigree to harm the Cuban phenom. Yuriorkis will TKO Mtagwa in mid rounds in a one sided fight! Now, after his performance, everyone will think twice about talking bad about the Cuban again, and as far as Lopez goes Gamboa is way too much for him too. Too much speed/power/amateur accomplishments for Lopez to handle. Believe me, Gamboa will defeat Lopez and will make it look easy, the kid is just im proving more and more in each fight. Noticed how he never lowered his hands in his last fight against the Panamanian? Gamboa TKO's Mtagwa in mid rounds...can't wait...:bart

Gamboa will beat Mtagwa pretty easily en route to a 5th or 6th round T/KO win at the most. Lopez lack of handspeed is the reason why he went life and death with Mtagwa.
