Calm down slick you shouldnt get a hard on when talkin about a fighter like you clearly had when you wrote this. And I hate to break this to you but nothin Gamboa did in the amateurs means **** in the pros. Just ask guys like Abdulaev or Jorge Luis Gonzalez.

And a Lopez right hook can change Gamboa's whole outlook on life. Aint no one from 130 down making anything look easy vs JuanMa except maybe getting put to sleep.

I am so tired of people believing that the pros are so more advanced compared to the amateurs. Professional boxing is still boxing, the point is still the same ( outsmart and outpunch your opponent ) and fighters still use fighting gloves. The only difference is more rounds, no headgear and the sport can be more violent, PERIOD.

If someone that was a highly accomplished amateur like Gamboa ( Olympic Gold Medalist, 2 times World Champion and 4 times Cuban National Champion ) trains hard in the pros ( just like Gamboa is doing ) then he should also be able to implement the same dominant technique and performance against Lopez who is miles away from Gamboa in amateur accomplishments, speed and power...

People should realize and understand that to be an Olympic and World amateur Champ like Gamboa is something incredibly hard to do and something that not all boxers can accomplish. I would say it's even harder than becoming Professional World Champion! Guess what? In the pros, fighters get to choose most of the time who they will face, have months to prepare for a fight and even have videos to study their opponent! In an International Amateur tournament like the Olympics or World Championships, a fighter more or less has an idea of who he will have to face ( usually around 7-10 fighters ) of the fighter's weight class, rarely has study videos as many new fighters are competing constantly and in a period of one week a fighter has to fight as many as 6 through 8 different opponents in order to reach the Final, and this is having to fight against different opponents of all styles and countries and guess what? 1 loss equals= pack and go home!!! While in the pros you can have a couple of loses and still become World Champion...:good

Now I will show you something about Jorge Luis Gonzalez. Did you know that Gonzalez lost to Cuba's 3 main Heavyweights when he was competing in Cuba? Yep, he lost to Leonardo Martinez, Roberto Balado and Milian! Gonzalez only defeated a washed up Teofilo Stevenson by points, and that's his only great amateur accomplishment but it really does'nt count as if he had fought a young Teofilo he would had been KO'ed...Guaranteed.:bbb

Jorge Luis Gonzalez came to the US mainly because he could'nt get a spot on the Cuban Nationa Team and because he always lost to Cuba's main 3 Heavyweights. Then after he defected, he took professional boxing as a joke, laughed at boxers, did'nt even have a trainer as he trained himself and this is why he got whooped against Bowe and many others too! He was not the best in Cuba and was not the best here too.

Now, Gamboa, Rigondeaux, Lara, Solis etc were the absolute best in Cuba and way more accomplished than Gonzalez, and will also be the best over here too if they maintain training properly and staying away from women, drugs, alcohol and parties...:happy

No. Gamboa can move. Billy Dib made Mtagwa look silly for 8 rounds - imagine what Gamboa will do.

Juanma in an interview said Gamboa is too fast for Mtagwa and will dominate him.

Gam gets hit far too often than he should. He'll drown in there with Mtagwa. I think he'll look good early then fade later as the rounds progress and as Mtagwa begins to break the younger fightrer down. Juanma struggled who is definitley more technically sound and an overall better boxer/fighter than Gam. I don't see Gam presenting much of a problem.
