Why would he? This fight isn't much of a step up other than David can punch.

Haters will always hate him for reasons unrelated to either his boxing ability or his resume. Too many idiots and bigots around here.

David Lemieux is no improvement on Rubio or Geale. Only difference is he's got a belt.

    No.

People flame Mayweather for fighting Maidana but now want to praise GG for fighting Lemiuex. This isn't even on par to May-Maidana.

This is a good fight but this is ten years into double g's career. It's about damn time

I'm a big ggg fan, for what he does in the ring. He has skills, tremendous offensive fighter with underrated defense.
However he is getting old, I understand legacy at 160 but he has few options. GG has to start making moves, Lemiuex is a good step in the right direction but I guarentee he takes two steps back after this fight.

David has already proven himself a limited fighter, more limited than some that Golovkin has already beaten. the only drama is David's fist contain dynamite.

He should fight DeGale at 168.

GGG is a MW, Ward was a LHW last time out

    also:

GGG nearly sold out MSG inside a week, Ward couldn't sell out the local community center, they had to give away free tickets

GGG, despite not being the American, has just as much views as Ward, if not more

Ward's promoter had to buy air time so people could watch Ward fight on a 3rd tier TV channel, GGG is the Main Event on HBO

I have no problem with GGG fighting Ward at 160, but only after he unifies his division and has cleaned out a good 5-6 years worth of contenders and belt holders at 160 (Lee, Quillin, Jacobs for starters)

These topics do get rather boring.

    GGG-Ward isn't happening.

Also, I think it says a lot about you if the only viable fight you can see for Golovkin is the #1 at the weight above who - as pointed out - last thought at almost LHW. The MW division isn't the strongest, but it sure as Hell isn't as weak as people make out. Like seriously, if you're claling a handful of top 10 fighters and former champions/contenders bums then either the church or state needs to help you. The main issue with it is the lack of consistency; very few other fighters in other divisions of similar talent would be called bums.
