does he really? haymon lost money on quillin vs jacobs but didnt care because its not he's money. in reality jacobs has very little pulling power, he would be getting more than well paid getting 1.5 million but haymon and he's inflated paydays are ruining boxing, why would a boxer challenge himself for the same money he can get to knock over a corpse
He wants the fight he just doesn't want to get ripped off. Hopkins v Kovalev is nothing like this. Kovalev was almost guaranteed to win that fight so it was practically free money.
he wasnt gaurenteed anything odds were reasonably close before the fight and many on here were saying hopkins schools, of course he destroyed him but it wasnt likw that before the fight only in Danny Jacobs mind is he being ripped off, if it went to purse bids he would receive abotu 750k, that is he's market value anything more than that is a bonus but in jacobs mind 1.5 million is a rip off, 2.5 million in he's mind is a rip off to face ggg , he probably wants 5 million which is nonsense bottom line is jacobs needs ggg or else he is going no where as he cant pick up a real belt, ggg doesnt need jacobs feels the same as quillin vs ggg years ago except quillin had a belt to bargain with and even then he was asking for 5 to 10 million, no look at him, belt less, fight less and pennyless
Lol I never said let him pick the ref and judges. Also, the fight won't necessarily be in Jacobs backyard. Don't try changing what I said in order to push your own agenda. Kovalev vs Hopkins is nothing like GGG vs Jacobs like I already explained. GGG and Jacobs are near the same level but GGG is still the A side. This fight can generate a lot of money and Jacobs knows that. Over 1.5 mill for this match up is not outrageous at all. It is a championship fight but perhaps you forgot Jacobs is a belt holder. Jacobs is the best shot in the mw division at beating GGG. Win lose or draw it is going to be a great fight.
yes I was gonna say the same about Oscar giving out life changing money to an unknown limited guy who isn't even the best in his family, great for Liam Smith and like you say those that got paid from Haymon but it sets a false precedence of which maybe only Hearn with his SKY money could hope to match? I remember Jacobs interview just before he got lit up on Twitter,he said then that for the proper money around 4mill I think he said that he'd take the fight,it was said in a I know I'll lose type of way, like its compensation or something?
A near 50 year old man vs a killer in his prime is damn near a guarantee. Jacobs definitley has a higher market value than 750k. He has been getting plenty of exposure through pbc. If Jacobs thinks 2.5 mill is a rip off then that is his problem. I said more than 1.5 mill but 3 mill is pushing it. Either this fight doesn't happen or GGG picks up another belt. Hopefully Jacobs doesn't chicken out. He missed his first chance and was lucky enough to get a second. He KNOWS he will not get a third especially at 30 years old.
jacobs in an interview said he wanted the fight in the barclay center, wanted it on ppv, wanted 224/7 build up and a lot of money. he was making eubank levels demands without the drawing power
was it seen as a gaurentee before the fight? were the odds like it was a gaurentee? no it wasn't so no need to try and re write history just to make a point in this fight it isnt, if it goes to purse bids he will get around 750k, purse bids is actually the fairest way to decide a fights value. ggg doesnt pick up another belt anyway jacobs doesnt have one. and even if jacobs vacates they will have a new regular champion in 2 to 3 months
Hardly pennyless he made good coin out of Andy Lee and 1.5mill against Jacobs. You think GGG would have paid better than 1.5mill? Hell to the no, they don't even want to pay Jacobs 2+ mill
Jacobs is a bigger draw than Eubank. The Kell Brook and Golovkin made 10+ mill from their fight. There is no reason Jacobs v Golovkin couldn't make at least half of that. This fight will be seen as competitive whereas Brook v Golovkin wasn't supposed to be competitive.
he has been out of the ring a year, he's careers in tatters and word is he is on social welfare because haymon cant get him work he has now decided to train with virgil 'the horse whisperer ' hunter who's fighters are known for inactivity ,he might as well go get a real job
lol no he's not, eubank was inline to earn between 3-4 million dollar fighting ggg, and why? because thats how much the fight would make in britian because he is a bigger draw in the uk than jacobs is in america jacobs vs golovkin cant make that because americans dont back their fighters as much as the brits do, that fight did insane numbers and probably my 15 ish million jacobs vs ggg isnt competitive and i wouldnt even give ggg much credit for knocking him out
