I read this as calzaghe pulling out of fights and thus making Americans cry, because no americans really cared that he beat the medicore lacy or those on the road to 40somethingdom.

one thing he did do is pull out of fights with good prime americans, so that made more sense as an interpretation.

Seemed like when Joe got knocked down he got back up and fought even harder. Unlike Roy, who mostly gave up at that point.

Hopkins was, as it turns out, still a very live contender at that age. And Calzaghe was also past prime by then.

but joe didn't know that, he wanted 40something Hopkins that had been outboxed twice for his title.

Not at LHW where Hopkins was hydrated, the bigger man and not long off arguably his biggest win, which is where Calzaghe beat him :hi:

Calzaghe has made many posters/haters very insecure on ESB.
The man has been retired for years, walked straight in as a first ballot HOFer and even now haunts many here on ESB

Hopkins was a natural MW until he bulked up a little due to natural ageing.

but we all know joe likes to pick on guys from lower weight divisions, well pointed out failey.

no this threrad is clearly marked Calzaghe in the title, so its going to naturally have calzaghe content. there is nothing unusual about this.

AGAIN - only you are being unusual by saying that others are odd from mentioning calzage in a thread with calzaghe in the title.

I was never a fan of Joe Cal, I just realized that I conditioned myself to hate him early in his career and realized that made me want to say that he sucked when in reality he was pretty darn good when all was said and done :bbb
