Even though Ward ducked GGG and took the easier option of facing Kovalev, he still lost and got knocked down once in the process too. Do y'all think GGG vs. Ward ever happen? Because it needs to happen, if it does, it won't go to the crooked judges, GGG will knock him out cold. Hopefully in 2018 we'll see it.
1) Ward made an offer to Golovkin, not the other way around, which he didn't accept (according to Ward). Problem is, no one really knows what the offer was so that's hardly a duck. 2) Ward didn't fight Kovalev to avoid Golovkin (all those belts&all, you know...), that's just nonsense. I'd love to see this fight, but realistically, Ward has his hands-full with rematch right now, Golovkin still has to unify and maybe fight Alvarez. In other words, this is not a priority to neither of them + Ward has been talking retirement already.
If ward continues his career for another 2,3 fights one will be vs ggg which will be ward getting ktfo between 2 thru 7 in a very one sided fight
This is the fight I want more than any other and I believe we could get it in the not too distant future, maybe 2019. Golovkin will hopefully leave 160 after unifying all the titles in search of big money, legacy defining fights and we know Ward will be up for it as long as he is still active.
I don't think a man that survives 12 with Kovalev gets sparked in 2 vs Golovkin. I make GGG a live dog but Ward would be the betting favourite.
Another two to three fights for Ward could equate to another 3 to 4 years. A lot of things can happen over such a long period of time that can send Ward and GGG in different directions. In any case, if this fight does occur, it isn't likely to be one-sided.
First GGG would have to unify at mw. Then he'd have to have a defence or two as unified champ. Then his people would have to negotiate with boxing's biggest prima donna, who might want a tune up. So I'd say we're looking at 2020 at the earliest.
Probably not. There would have to be a lot of money on the table for that and Ward can't draw flies to s**t. They are now 2 divisions apart and Ward keeps talking about retiring. Don't hold your breath.
No, this fight will never happen. Two reasons: 1) GGG isn't leaving 160lbs any time soon. He's chasing Canelo and attempting to unify the division. Both of these goals will take a couple years. 2) They would have to meet at 168lbs and Ward cannot make the weight anymore (he's stated that he's not going back down). Today he weighs in at 175lbs and is 186lbs or so on fight night. Needless to say that GGG is never going to Light Heavy Weight. Kovalev v Ward rematch is what people should be focused on. Im sure that Al Haymon is ready to cash out Adonis against the winner of that bout.
never happening .....didnt want anything to do with ward before...now they know he can take kovalevs best they want even less this thread is a disgrace...
Golovkin has seen enough of Ward's style to know that he wants no parts of it. And lets be honest here, the first 2 rounds, Ward was actually trying to box with Sergey Kovalev and he got manhandled. After getting dropped in the 2nd, Ward reverted to his ugly, mauling, MMA style, coming in with his head, grabbing, elbows, with not even a warning from the ref. GGG knows that if Ward employs such a style with protection from the ref that he will suffer an L. GGG would be wise to avoid Ward
