Decent opponent or not??? Does he pose any problems??? At least he is a 160 pounder, with good power. Would be GGG'S best win

Wouldn't be a good opponent, wouldn't be his best win.

TS you should lay off making more threads about 3G, it's pathetic

The type of guys Golovkin needs to face next are Macklin, Geale, and Pirog(injuries might rule him out). If not one of those guys even someone like Barker, Lee, or Rubio would be ok. Almost anyone other than one of those guys would be a disappointment.

He's not going to face Martinez or Chavez next so no need to even worry about them and there are a number of super middleweights that would be fine but who knows what happens there.

Vera, is a better opponent than Ishida but Golovkin needs to face other top 5-10 contenders. I don't think HBO would be on board with that fight anyways and I thought thats where Golovkin's next fight was.

Man, none of those guys will fight him. You can look around, Macklin doesn't want it for june, just like he didn't want it for january or last fall. Pirog is out indefinitely. Rubio passed in january, and is going for WBO/WBC. You heard the very candid interview with Barker's promoter? He's not letting that fight happen. Finally, Lee barely made it past a 13-4 clubfighter a month ago, and before that got crushed by Chavez. He's not ready for retirement yet, he's not even ready for Macklin.

It's not a terrible fight, he fought Ishida who is supposed to make you look bad and GGG looked good so Vera will make him look like a god
He needs a big fight at the end of the year to force Martinez to fight him
He should try and get a big name at 154 aswell forget 168 for the moment he's still got time to move up to there
Cotto, Smith, Kirkland, Bundrage even though they will all probably most likely duck him if he can beat a good name their he should be able to get a big fight in 1 of the 2 divisions

According to ESPN's Top 10 of MW's we should see GGG fighting one of them in June:

    1.Martinez
    2.Geale
    3. Golovkin
    4.Chavez Jr.
    5. Macklin
    6.Quillan
    7.Soliman
    8.Sturm
    9.Pirog
    10.Murray

Poor opponent, I know its hard for him to get good fights, but surely they could have got someone better?

At least this means that Chavez will be fighting a better opponent in Macklin or Barker in his next fight.

it'd be a KO 1 for Golovkin if Vera goes toe to toe.

That excuse will only hold for so long, the more well known GGG gets the more the fans will want to see him against a better calibre of opponent, not fringe contenders. If he cant get someone to fight him as is, his management will have to make it worthwhile for more well known fighters to get in the ring with him.

Or maybe that paper belt that he's holding is holding him back a bit. Would he be better off giving it up and forcing his way into a mandatory position for either Geale, Martinez or Quillin?

They should stop ducking GGG. I say if Chavez wants a title to bring to the Martinez rematch, he needs not to look further. It's also a chance to show he has more balls than Sturm, N'Dam, Geale and all these ppl. who avoided Golovkin like the plague. Vera is meh, despite the haters shouting how Gennady should've fought him over Ishida, the former champ.

BTW, what's the deal with Geale? There's hardly any obligation now, quit hiding down under!

He did have the balls to come to Germany to fight Sturm and Sylvester, so he should get a pass for now at least:good

But he's another guy who needs to start targeting the big fights soon to.

Proksa is still his best win imo. I think proksa is much better than ishida! ishida got lucky against kirkland. it would never happen again
