Will Golovkin be another Arthur Abraham?

I'm not talking about AA's style. Do you think he can retain his power and use it effectively if he does move up? Or end up like Abraham. Who did very well but came up short against the Wards, Frochs and Dirrells.

I think there's a chance. But i think he would get starched at 168 due to his build. But at 160 he should do well against the fairly mediocre opposition out there right now.

I think Dirrel, Ward, Froch and Kessler are to big for Golovkin to beat. He has power but I don't think he has the skill or size to beat these fighters.

Golovkin's really only like Abraham in terms of power. GGG is a way more refined boxer.

He defeated Dirrell in the amateurs.. Can't see why he shouldn't be able to do it again.

It was a close fight and Dirrel is now older and more improved since then I think. The reason I think Dirrel could win is because of his height and reach and the style he uses makes it hard to land clean power punches.

Well he sure believe he can have success up at 168. The real question is: do the 168ers dare to test it?

I think Golovkin would hit a wall if he moved up to SMW. He'd give up a lot in reach and his power would probably diminish just like AA's did from MW to SMW. IMO he should stay at 160 that's best for him for the time being. There's Pirog, there's Chavez jr, there's Martinez, there's Geale now. Plenty of big fights here there at MW.

They will happen sooner or later now that Golovkin is with HBO, he just has to keep the momentum going.

Hell no GGG isn't one dimensional like AA. Has a beautiful jab, great bodyshots, in long range or short range is equally very effective, doesn't force the ko, doubles up on hooks. His counterpunching is underrated and has a high ring IQ. Aside from all that, he hits just as hard if not harder than AA who relies mostly on his strength and built like a tank. GGG just on a higher level than AA. Those 2 actually would make a fun fight.

I doubt that Dirrell will be able to take the pressure from Golovkin, his height and reach is his main arguements for beating GGG but i doubt that he will be able to consistently keep Golovkin in his own striking distance, and when Golovkin gets in range i think that Dirrell will crumble under the accurate power punches of Golovkin

Fair enough it would be a good fight although I still think 168 lbs isn't a good division for Golovkin, Ward is just to good and Froch height and reach plus toughness makes him to be the favourite, Kessler it is hard to tell how much he has left. Kessler from the Librado Andrade and the Joe Calazaghe fights would be to good for Golovkin but can he perform anywhere near that level now.

He'd be giving up too much size, a guy like Froch would just be too big and tough, he'd actually have a better chance against the boxers, based on styles. But he should stay at Middleweight, he can make it his own and become middleweight ATG.

I would hate to see GGG move up to 168.

We have a legit possibly legend in the making here, and I would hate to see it tarnished because he is such a real dude he wouldn't give a **** in giving up a huge size advantage to make a big fight at 168.

I hope he can secure fights at the weight he is at, if not one lower (if he has to), given he can make the weight and be comfortable and not drained.
