He absolutely will be the face of boxing around the world if he beats Lemieux then Canelo. He'll go from being avoided to fighters suddenly looking to fight him for the big purses they'll garner as the b-side against him. But what great fighters are there for him to fight? Golovkin-Ward would be great, but I'd rather see Kovalev-Ward, which makes more sense for Ward too, even for less money. If Ward beats Kovalev he'd earn a super fight with GGG, but him even getting in the ring with Kovalev at this point is almost unfathomable. Is Khytrov good enough as a future opponent? If Degale keeps winning would he be worth a trip to 168?

If GGG establishes himself as a huge star and Ward had a Kovalev win as a bargaining chip I'd hope the both of their promoters, HBO, and boxing media be clamouring for them to fight.

Floyd was never the face of boxing. Boxing has had no face for the past twenty years because of boring hacks like Floyd and Vlad.

Soon, thanks to GGG, Kovalev and Tyson Fury, boxing will become mainstream again. But we need Al Haymon to go to hell too.

Not necessarily. Because, he doesn't have any perceived challenges. Ward was really it. I think if Ward moves up and wins the right fights, he is going to steal the limelight. That could possibly set up a superfight later between the 2 if GGG cleans house at 160 and moves up to 168.

    He's old. Already 34.

He doesn't have an Oscar De La Hoya (big name opponent; don't say Ward cuz NO ONE outside of boxing circles know of him)

Due to those 2 reasons it seems unlikely

Probably the biggest threat which stays in his way to become a boxing star could be his age BUT GGG didn't take so much punishment during his career even if he's a come and forward fighter because he has a good defence. Also he's a very dedicated-hard working fighter who doesn't abuse his body with alcohol, partying etc. Another intersting point is that GGG seems to make the weight very easy.

Assuming he dismantles Lemieux and then fights Cotto-Canelo winner and beats him in impressing fashion then yeah GGG could become the next face of boxing and be compared with Hagler or Monzon.:good

You come off as a racist in your post. You sound insecure about yourself when you talk about whites spending money to see a white boxer. Mayweather is a once in a lifetime fighter no doubt, but get your head out of your ass when you discuss race.

    ''Boxer's lives matter''

''They're bringing him down and planting that roid **** in his blud''

Cue for them to start marching to walmart and loot everything in hope of solving whatever injustice is concocted up in their minds
