It's not particularly unusual for an organisation's champion at one weight to get a title shot straight away at another after fighting one eliminator. Ideally, the GGG- Canelo rematch happens in May and then the winner fights Saunders/ Lemieux for all the marbles (though admittedly if it's GGG and Lemieux, a rematch would be a hard sell). Absolutely ideal would be Charlo-Jacobs in the meantime to face the unified champion at the end of 2018, with Murata or Derevyanchenko next contender, but that's probably asking too much.
1. Canelo rematch 2. Unification match up against the winner of BJS & Lemieux 3. If GGG decides to stay at MW, defend against his mandatory Derevyanchenko who is an actual MW not a LMW who's moved up (what? you forgot about ''But GGG is fighting LMWs, doe''? Serge didn't forget about all you clowns throwing that criticism at GGG back then) and didn't earn his shot by beating a cripple who could barely even walk let alone fight. 4. Then Jermallo can get his shot, if GGG doesn't decide to hang up his gloves and so chooses to grant him the opportunity that is.
Don't shoot yourself in the foot. Ouma hadn't beaten anybody at 154 better than Julian Williams or Austin Trout, AND, post Taylor, leading up to Golovkin, he was 2-5 with neither of those two wins coming against a notable opponent. Analyzing the facts you don't have a point. Proska, had beaten nobody, Rubio had beaten nobody. Charlo's wins over Williams and Trout make him a more viable opponent than most of Golovkin's opposition. The recent opposition of most Golovkin opponents make Charlo's recent wins over Trout and Williams look like hall of fame material.
Fast forward to a fighter in the twilight of his career, showing signs of decline and aged 35/36 and you'll get why people suddenly seem keen to fight him. Its a pity the same fighters was not so vocal 2 to 3 years ago. As for legacy and your respect I don't think it's something that will keep GGG awake at night.
no way Charlo has the bigger name and is the American boy with the undefeated record and no history of a shakey chin like Jacobs Charlo vs Derevenchenko is the fight to make. Winner takes GGG
Call me biased because i'm a fan, but I don't care if GGG cherrypicks for the rest of his career, which imo is 12 months . Mans proven what a great fighter he is. Canelo rematch and call it quits, if not 1or2 pay days against BJS and who ever, then sail off in to the sunset
Agree. Canelo, Unification then a good bye. He's in the same scenario as all great fighters, no matter when he retires the haters will always have a fighter he's allegedly scared of or who would have beaten him. I'd like him to beat Hopkins record before retirement though.
Yeah be nice to beat the record. Hes like a sack of grain with a hole in it though..He will be given a reason to retire soon if he carries on much longer
I dont understand how ggg was a unbeatable monster and now his fans wants him to retire soon! Best fights canelo and jacobs and he looked really beatable!
