Will Golovkin have even 1 meaningful fight in 2016?

I want to see him fight Jacobs. I also want to see him end the most boring career of Erislandy Lara.

Canelo isn't going to happen until late 2018. I don't care for that fight anyway because it's going to be a Golovkin UD.

K2 is banking on Golovkin getting to face yet another WW turned MW, Canelo, as the usual path of least resistance that GGG always travels.
I agree. It will probably be 2017 when Golovkin is forced to fight a competitive opponent.
Lara is moving up (Yet another JMW moving up) just to give him personal attention that he so badly needs. One of the Charlo brothers is moving up as well.
Since GGGG only calls out Jr MWs. then in 2017 things could get interesting.

I doubt Canelo, BJS or Jacobs will fight GGG in 2016.

Tureano Johns - GGG's IBF mando
    Heiland
    Lemieux II
    Andy Lee

These could be GGG's next opponents for 2016

Sounds about right, but what about Saunders?

Already on record saying he won't fight GGG unless there's an insane amount of money offered to him. Said he is too good and above the rest of the division

I'm expecting more hopeless bums with his fans roaring in excitement and celebration over these fights.

K2 are the masters at the duck reversal strategy. They are very skilled at ducking through pre-negotiation to flip the script as they did with BHOP, Ward and Lara.
Unfortunately the MW division is not too deep with outstanding talent at the moment and K2 can keep milking the GGG gravy train until an unavoidable confrontation with a competitive talent emerges.
until then, Golokin won't move up or down and will sit in the MW division which is so weak two WWs just competed for a MW title.

Exactly. As long as they're making good money and have idiotic fans that will support regardless, they have no reason to step up. If you look at Cotto, Alvarez, Mayweather, DLH, Hopkins...etc, all these fighters took major risks(usually moving up in weight) to make the jump from stars to super stars. Golovkin and his team are shameless enough to call out Welterweights and they're being cheered for it, so they really have no reason to do otherwise. Hell the support they have is so big, they even hosted a fight against a tomato can recently on PPV.

Canelo will fight him. He knows that a significant part of his fans will consider him a coward if he doesn't. BHop just said that it is happening in September.

GGG should stay at mw until his body says he has to move up. If I were him I'd fight as much as possible just to break hops mw reign. .

The only reason for moving up was for ward but ward is still trying to start his comeback and now has to fight at lhw which is going to end very badly.. there is NO ONE at 68 to waste his time with, 54 and 60 both are lightyears ahead of 68..

The only fighter that matters to camp G is kovalev and the only reason to move up is fight the best 75ers out there.. I believe Kovalev will be the last man standing at 75 and in 17 the biggest fight and most important will be G and Kovalev. .

Kovalev will be dying to get revenge against the trainer thato dumped him. Huge storyline. . X teammates going head to head. Kovalev will still be far bigger than G but it won't matter in the end. G is never going to weigh in clone to 75 but a totally in shape 168/70 lb G will be going agains tax Kovalev who will have 15/20 lbs on him come fight night will be great, but it's going to impact both of their durability. .

Unless G catches him early both will sustain career changing punishment.. it's probably going to be so nasty people will be begging for a rematch..

Kovalev should take care of stevenson and ward after he ends pascals career, by that time G will be looking to complete the mw streak and he'll be ready (filling out) to move up with all eyes on the Russians.. I know G isn't technically Russian but to me and most he's Russian

So. What does the TS define as a 'meaningful' fight? Are there any names he'd like to put to that?

If he's talking about challenging fights for GGG it would mean looking to 168 IMO, but all the top names there are signed with Haymon, so that's improbable.

I think most would consider any of the 160 unifiers as being 'meaningful' but I'm not sure that's what the TS is getting at.
