Will Guerrero do a better job than Cotto did

I also see that PBF's accuracy has dropped and he's not countering people like he used to. This past prime PBF is still good but he's not at top form. He will have to work harder than he's used to and his stamina will play a role. He worked hard against Hatton but he was still prime. Even against Cotto he looked to be breathing hard. The Ghost will test his stamina.

marquez was always going to take the carrot on floyd's terms, and its no coincidence floyd stacked the deck for his comeback fight by making sure he would win

marquez deserved the respect, but not the disrespect

 

I have a very hard time seeing this fight as a competitive bout .

Guerrero doesnt have the physical strength nor the boxing ability that Cotto possesses .

On the flipside , Guerrero will have more hunger than Cotto did (Given the fact this is his first MEGA fight) Guerrero also has better stamina , hes not a 7 rnd fighter that Miguel is , So Hes not going to fade at all , Hes going to attempt to stay in Floyds face all 12 rnds and make him uncomfortable .

I'm known to be one of the biggest JMM marks on all of ESB.

He got schooled by PBF, in humiliating fashion. I was rooting hard for him, but can still objectively say that he got shut the **** out and made to look absolutely foolish in that ill-advised undertaking.

I was drawing a parallel to Guerrero being another guy who, like Marquez, is less than a year removed from campaigning at lightweight before challenging Mayweather at welterweight. (as opposed to Cotto, who had been at junior middle for two years already and against whom it was Mayweather moving up).

Styles make fights, but I don't buy into the "southpaw kryptonite" mystique nor does Guerrero have anything besides physicality and grit on his side in what looks to be a mismatch of the same proportions that Mayweather vs. Marquez was (through no fault of Marquez's, other than he shouldn't have gone chasing that fool's errand payday in the first place)

but before beating pacman marquez was desperate to prove to the doubters he was the great fighter he has always been

but floyd won't be leaving the scales in the dressing room for this fight, and that is my sticking point

floyd moves up and also picks his own weight on the scales for the fight on his comeback fight shows the respect he has for marquez, but also the ultimate disrespect, so as a marquez fan i don't understand why you dont mention this rather than floyd 'schooling him' - when it was tainted and in any other sport, scandalous

 

Floyd dominates this fight from start to finish. Slow azz guerrero has will but no skill. Flod picks his shots and bust his opponet up.

 

He was gassing and being hurt late by every Berto uppercut.

Yeah, I don't think it's a fair comparison--Floyd at 151 (I think is how he came fight night) compared to 147. Regardless, we'll see how he does against Guerrero to gauge how well he's aged. Floyd can grow old overnight like any other fighter.

 

Considering Floyd age and inactivity, Guerrero should give Floyd a tougher fight then Cotto. If he does not it will just show how much better Floyd is to the rest of these fighters of this era. I don't expect Guerrero to win, but he better give Floyd a run for his money. I am a Floyd fan, but I really want somebody to give Floyd the type of fight that Frazier gave Ali.

 

maybe. if he can avoid floyds uppercut, which is the punch i see really hurting guerrero, i think he can work his way into a close fight. i dont think he can ko floyd so outboxing him is very unlikely, but constant pressure on an aging boxer who worries a lot about his health, might just crack that old nut.

 

guerrero is going to be more committed to the body than cotto was....therefore, he is going to get plenty of clean shots at floyds dome.

guerrero at this point takes a better shot than cotto...he will walk through floyds best shots.

guerrero has waaaay less miles than shane, ortiz and cotto had on them when they fought floyd....

floyd is one year removed from his less than stellar performance against a shop worn/highly intelligent cotto.

i predicted cotto would make the fight tough. i think it was much closer than the judges or the talking heads at hbo had it. i predict this fight will be even tougher.

there will be no spin that will cover up the fact that guerrero is going to make floyd work harder than he ever has had to work in his career for this win.

i predict that floyd will win....but there will be plenty who believe guerrero won. expect a rematch.

guerrero will put hands on floyd. expect floyd to "sprout wings and a tail"....robert will step on it...then step around to land more shots as floyd "spits fireballs at him." this fight is going to go down to the wire.

floyd is not going to make it through his six fight deal unscathed or undefeated. i predict he will either lose...or retire before the six fights. showtime, in essence, has paid to televise floyds first loss. he thinks he's robbing the bank. father time catches up to the best of them. floyd sr knows this. he's already stated it.

 

Even Cotto got praise for his performance,he was on attack mode most of the fight,and I think if Floyd can beat a healthy strong Cotto,it will be easier task.. I say this because I am not convinced Rob is yet in the class of Miguel in attack mode..
