Will Haye call it a day or will he retire in his PRIME a loser?

I'd imagine quite a few of them would fancy their chances.

It's pretty clear from watching the Klitschko fight compared to his earlier fights that he has slipped massively technically, he's just an uncoordinated mess with a huge right hand that he's reluctant to let go...... probably as a result of spending too much time trying to be a celeb and less time in the gym or in the ring.

His sole tactic was to get hit as little as possible by any means possible and hope the other guy left an opening..... there was no attempt to open the other guy up, no attempt to lead.... nothing.

He did a smash and grab on the division, making loads of cash.... but he was only really a consensus #3 in the division, didn't really prove it, given that Holyfield did just as good a job on SNV as he did.

 

Aside from a Klit I would still make him at worst a slight favourite against them all - certainly not outside the top 15!

 

That's not true, Beeston. He's the exact same fighter he was at cruiser. He's cagier against big men, but his performance against Ruiz pretty aggressive and showed a lot of his skills.

I know some are just disappointed in him, but it doesn't erase his talents or achievements.

He's not the samurai warrior you all wanted.

 

The question he has to ask himself is - if I stay and start mixing it up with the best heavyweights can I maintain any sort of invincibility. Invincibility is the main issue with boxers, its why no loss is really a loss and there are always excuse. For Haye, both the Thompson and Wlad losses were down to him doing things wrong.

Haye mixing it with Povetkin, Arreola, Vitali, Adamek etc There is bound to be a loss along the way.

 

I think he'll retire, it's a dangerous game fighting on at a 'lower' level and that's what he'll need to do for a spell. Younger guys who need to rebuild can do it, I don't think people who came close to the summit can manage it as easily.

Haye has always talked about retiring at this age. When he needs to put in the hard work in training, in the middle a tough fight, he'll think 'I shouldn't be here'.

Not to mention he's got a stack of money.

I don;t expect to see him again unless he gets a Vitali fight.

 

Haye will never go down as a loser, he has achieved a lot in the sport.

Not since the days of Hatton vs Mayweather has anybody brought boxing to the mainstream media like Haye did.

Haters will hate I guess, personally I hope he comes back.

Boxing is a promoters game and hence it needs stars.... Without Haye and Khan British Boxing would have been very quiet over the last few years.

 

I think he is in a good position for himself personally.

He can sit on the fence for a little bit.

Take his time - enjoy life as a multi millionaire - escape Britain for a bit and go and relax on a yacht in the middle of paradise and sip some champers with pretty women and Adam Booth - let the dust settle on the loss and let life get back to normal in Britain while he is away.

He will not come back to fight - just any contender.

He will only be tempted to come back to fight one of the Klitshcko brothers - for another big payday.

I dont think he fancy fighting Vitali - because he is the harder man.

So that leaves one option - a rematch with Wlad.

If he fancys it - and the money is there - he can take a rematch - and say its all about revenge and this time is toe is ok, etc.

If he dosent fancy it - thinks he might lose again - or simply is just too comfortable with life - and dosent want to go through all that again - then he can revert back to his retirement date - as his excuse to never fight again.

Hayes done well - got out with his health - 30 years old - - good world class crusierweight - ok world class heavyweight - multi millionaire.

 

And a lot of his flaws too :hey

I agree with this. I think that Haye will most likely retire, now. He could come back for a title fight, but I don't think that he would come our of retirement simply to fight a contender, as he sees himself above that level. So I think he will most likely stay retired, but wouldn't rule out a brief comeback if he sees a winnable title/big pay cheque opportunity.

 

Haye beat all those except the klitschko's imho. He is a good fighter but not a great one. The others are decent at best...
