I don't see this fight being very exciting or competitive...I think Chagaev is too slow and limited to make much of a fight of it. To his credit, he does seem to have a very sturdy chin and has shown he's willing to take punishment. I can't see Haye knocking him out, but I can see Haye getting a unanimous decision. The only problem I see for Haye is the potential that he comes into this fight unmotivated and doesn't train as hard as he would've trained for a Klitschko fight. If that's the case, he could have some stamina problems and Chagaev could come on strong at the end, since he'll likely still be around (Chagaev, that is) for the 12th round. Chagaev has a lot of question marks hanging over his head for me - he lost a one-sided fight to Wlad, but in all honesty I thought he gave it the best shot of any of the heavies that Wlad has fought in recent years. He showed tremendous heart by staying in the fight as long as he did, despite being outmatched in pretty much every category. He's not nearly as outmatched in terms of size against Haye, but I still think he's outmatched in every category except experience at the heavyweight level. He and Haye are the only two heavyweights to get past Valuev and I think they both have a higher ring IQ than they get credit for having, but Chagaev doesn't bring anything to the table that makes me think he can beat Haye. For me it all comes down to how hard Haye is willing to train for this fight, if it happens...
Haye is scared of Chagaev, that's why he don't want to wait for Wald in july, the WBA will force Daveyboy to fight Chagaev before then.....
Might be... I favoured the Chag that fought Wlad slightly over Haye, and it all comes down to if Ruslan is in better condition than his last fight. If he is, it might be pretty close, and I can't see Haye knocking him out in that case... maybe a premature stoppage.
Chagaev hasnn't been looking as good in his last couple fights but he's still a good fighter. I don't think he can beat Haye but its a good fight and I wouldn't totally write Chagaev off. I think Haye wins a decision but I can see a late stoppage as well but I'm still sketptical this fight comes off at all. I can see Chagaev's medical issues preventing this from happening.
Chagaev was almost knocked out by Walker in his last fight. Chagaev's timing was horrible, he was out of shape and he took dozens of punches from Walker. Chagaev was literally sitting there and taking 4-5 punches in a row with zero defense and movement. It felt like every punch was literally freezing him for 1.5 seconds and he only awakened when the next punch landed. It was scary. Put Chagaev in a ring with Haye and I don't see how this sick and worn out version of Chagaev could possibly last more than 2-3 rounds. So in short, no it won't be exciting. It will be a miserable mismatch -- not Haye's fault though.
Yikes...I haven't watched his fight with Walker. Isn't Walker the same guy that Arreola blasted out of the ring in 2 or 3 rounds on HBO a couple of years back?
I just dont get what it is people see in chagaev he has good fundamentals but everything else seems very average i think he will end up getting blown away inside 6 rounds
Considering the fact that John Ruiz was able to land on Haye makes this an interesting fight. Chagaev obviously has KO power. If Haye jumps on him and in the middle of some wild swinging exchange gets hit back, he is going down. Chagaev has been known to hit like a mule. He couldn't hit Wlad because of his height and style, but Haye is different and much more open to getting hit back. Interesting fight if Haye doesn't bail.
