Each year, less and less boxing is being aired through cuts in its budget for the sport. Even the fights they have on don't seem to have that cohesion like it did in the past. The interest is lacking.
` Indeed, the PPV thing is a disaster. PPV should even be considered at this point, and only reserved for mega fights that can make money.
This is the downfall of the way the sport is being marketed. Kinda reminds me of the financial status of Russia during the Cold War. The sport was a 1 belt sport where everyone knew who the champ was and the best had to fight each other. Since then it's made short term gains by having multiple belts and promoting multiple world champions. We had the PPV boom were boxers could make easy money but that ultimately led to so called cash cows of the sport appearing. Over time fans have started questioning matchmaking, and rightly so. It leads to people turning off from boxing. Why bother watching a sport with multiple men calling themselves champions and taking low risk high reward fights? Boxing needs an overhaul imo.
