HBO made this out to be a black eye on boxing. It is hard to ignore someone like Roy Jones Jr saying Pdub was taking a beating. I think the ONLY way they would touch another of his fights is if it were promoted by someone other than Goosen. Maybe not even then unless it is a big name. Pdub's stock fell mightily and the perception of the robbery makes it fall even further. He is toxic right now as far as HBO is concerned. A shot fighter getting corrupt decisions. Just saying....
He should retire if he isn't going to change any. I doubt he'll be on again unless Martinez feels like knocking him out again.
When your trainer says they're not changing anything and that he literaly had no clue on how to protect from that left hand....and was thouroughly outboxed by what should have been the lesser fighter....he has got no choice but to call it a career especially especially if he is going to stick with the same trainer.....
PWilliams is just a athletic freak of nature...he made it this far off of sheer ahtletic ability in a freakish body frame. His trainer did aabout next to nothing in teaching about boxing and developing the craft. When he said they weren't going to change anything, i was like what?!?! It was like he didnt even care to improve anything either, he didn't care, he is just along for the pay days. At least thats what it seemed to me.
when max kellerman asked would he still have gotten ko'd had he kept his right hand up, he replied yes there was no avoiding that shot, it would have caught anybody!
He kinda reminds me of Jermaine Taylor. He just refuses to improve. Beat a few very good fighters and forgets that more advanced trainers actually study your every move. You can't keep doing the same thing over and over and expect no one to pick up on it.
I'm just wondering if Goosen really killed Paul's chances. Even though it was a title eliminator, do you think they want to show him again?
For a fight in Montreal? Shirley, you jest. Do you think HBO will punish Goosen and Pdub over this? They would be stupid to touch another of his promotions.
It seems HBO has "blacklisted" fighters over less **** than that, so my guess is it would be a safe bet (esp. after the commentary that aired) that Paul W. will NOT be on HBO anymore. As for the Goosen part of the question, Goosen certainly didn't help if he influenced those judges (quite likely) but P-Willy would have prob been "blacklisted" simply from the performance given even if the judges had scored it right.:yep
