Their deal was never disclosed as far as I know. Could have been cash or a percent of PPV buys.

    Cleverly is still European Level.

He's still a No Mark on the World Scene.

    Shumenov?

Very winnable imho. Good shout, he can be a unified champ and wait for Hopkins to get even older or pray that he retires.

The world scene isn't a hotbed pal so it's easy to be a champ. Europe is the same and he beat the best from Germany and England which are the biggest boxing countries. Who else is there to beat?

    Dawson, Cloud, Bute, Froch, Ward....

All of these guys, are the guys who Bernard Hopkins wants to fight.

Agree whole heartedly with this. People seem to want to bring pros on too quick sometimes, instead of letting them develop naturally with fights and experience. He's already come on remarkably quick but he is still a b level pro IMO. If he gets a fight with Hopkins it will only be his undoing.

3 of which aren't in the division yet.

Kessler would be a better shout imo as he is tight at the weight and would really hurt Cleverly if they fought. Also a way to get a strap ready for a Froch or Ward rematch?

Seriously though, Cleverly needs to get grounded and take stock of things. He is young and has a very poor trainer in his father, he needs to get a proper trainer and then work on defense and footwork then push for unifications.

Hopkins is too much too soon. I dont think a peak Cleverly trained by whoever i.e Roach etc could ever beat Hopkins unless he is like 50. He just hasn't got that talent in him. He is a good, good fighter but will never be a great. I say this as a massive Clev fan.

He doesn't need to unify so soon after winning the title. That would go against what ****** has done with his WBO champs over the last ten years. Expect a "never been stopped" type top ten WBO/mando next.

    Who is his mandatory anyway?

    Very true...:yep

It's about who you don't fight as well...:good I think that they need to navigate Clev at a steady rate to develop more experience and earn some decent paydays along the way...:good

In terms of easy defences I agree, but not move up?

Clev needs some learning fights anyway. He is raw and needs honing. He doesn't need knockovers like Cook he needs solid opposition he can learn from, if he loses in time who gives a ****, loses make fighters i.e khan. In the long run he can only get better with experience, still only 24...
