I've no doubt Hopkins would deal with Kessler in his day but I fear Kessler would do the job Pavlik was supposed to do. Hopkins is an old man... despite his recent heroic efforts....

I agree. Calzaghe thinks Kessler is the best fighter he's fought. Also, remember when he asked Hopkins during their "wouldn't lose to a white boy" head to head: "So you think you could beat Kessler, do you?!"

he goes to the US, tries to get some more airtime on HBO or ESPN and get a better opponent.

    build momentum....

The thing is that Kessler V Calzaghe was the lowest Show time TV viewing in the history of Showtimes. Hopkins hardly pulls them in either, how could this fight work financially... just an idea...

Excellent. Isn't this more interesting than boring old ground?

Who does he fight? Can't he just get a Taylor/Hopkins/Bute straight away? Who is Taylor going to fight next provided he wins? Who is Hopkins going to fight? I don't see many options for these guys without Kessler coming up somewhere.

If he can't who does he fight to "build momentum" aside from being universally considered the #1 SMW?

thats all you had to say if thats all you meant ;)

bute's his best shot i think, i'd rather see him fight taytlor who i think some people will dismiss too easily nowadays, and i'll be surprised if he gets hopkins in his next fight.

the SMW rep points aren't that relevant right now - neither is his paper title now.

he needs stateside recognition sorely and the frustrating thing is that all the hard work was done with JC.

so pretty well any decent fight stateside that builds his reputation will do.

It's true...only 250,000 HBO views, as far as I remember.

Hopkins doesn't duck, people duck him.

Decent fighters stateside? Like who? There are no decent fighters stateside in this division aside from Taylor, or if Hopkins decided to come down. They are big fights not momentum builders.

I hardly think Allan Green is going to boost your profile immensely, and they wouldn't know the Canadian/Romanian Lucian Bute from Lucy Liu.

The only thing I could see being achievable is he moves up and fights Glen Johnson. He's a guy that isn't worried about big pay days or taking a risk, he'd fight Mikkel in an instant.

wouldnt mind seeing kessler vs. hopkins. but why wouldnt any of you think kessler could whip hopkins. even calzaghe looked like **** vs. hopkins. nobody has an easy time with hopkins and plus more then likely he beats kessler anyway.

who do you mean "they" referring to bute?

isnøt mads larsen slated to fight him in february?

thats not fact but i heard that fight's going ahead.

kessler wants winky wright too, but like johnson the weight the fight takes place at will factor into it.

i dont know how serious winky is about fighting again since it's been so long but that could be a realistic shot for kessler.

Let us not forget though that Hopkins would have been stopped had he not had those lengthy breathers people always overlook it and I am telling you he NEEDED those or we would have been looking at a TKO.

As far as I can see, Hopkins ducks noone. But he has to be selective in his last fights and I don't blame him if he decides Kessler is not to be one of them.
