thats right and it says a lot about his ringcraft. we're still saying that and his resume in the last few years is awesome to be honest. one of the best over 40 boxers ever and a great fighter anyway.
Where the hell did I say Kessler would beat Hopkins? It's just that Kessler is a big, skilled technicall fighter who has heard of a jab and things like that.He ain't no Pavlik. He would be much harder fight.Bernatd wants Roy or Joe...those guys, not young guys like Mikkel who can fight.I'd still favor Bernard though.
since when do wins over sartison and haussler qualify you for a fight with b-hop? what tools does kessler bring to the table that b-hop hasn't seen come 3rd round his jab will be in hopkins back pocket and he'll be clueless he has zero ring intelligence
seemed like you were alluding to a kessler victory. but since calzaghe wont rematch, hopkins might as well go after either dawson or kessler.
It's not like a Kessler victory is out of the question, the old man's 44 almost though I'd favor him to win a close UD...but you know how many close UD's and SD's Bernard has lost lately so....maybe,maybe:hey .Same reasons for Dawson...if he ain't getting Roy or Joe he ain't gonna fight probably.
I really don't think Hopkins can beat Kessler and I know I will be proven right if the fight ever happens, which it wont as Hopkins knows he'd lose.
yeah you're right.... after fighting pavlik, taylor, wright and calzaghe in recent years i'm sure he's psyched out by the only fighter on that list never to spank a top name.. get real...
You mentioned that Bute could be a viable opponent. But he isn't going to get Kessler the recognition stateside you are desperate for. He had that one fight on showtime against Andrade and I doubt it got huge viewing figures, and he wouldn't have really impressed Americans. Kessler did the same fight on HBO and was mega impressive. As well as the Calzaghe fight. So his profile is already way ahead of Bute. So that isn't a fight that achieves what you want. Winky-Wright again, even 8lbs above his peak weight is a relatively big fight. Not a momentum builder. It's the sort of fight you don't think he can get without a momentum builder IMO. I don't think there are any momentum builders as you put it out there. Mainly because Europeans dominate the supermiddleweight division. So Kessler is doing all he can by calling out. He has to hope somebody mans up.
Kessler is better than you think I have him beating Calzaghe in a rematch and even KO'ing Joe he has great power and learnt a lot from the JC fight I just think he is a feared man now and will prove me right I am sure. He looked good against JC and only lost 7-5 at max and had some very good moments. He looked way better against Joe than Hopkins did that's for sure.
the andrade fight ws limited because he held it in denmark. a fight stateside will always get more publicity and exposure. you're sticking with the myth that a fighter fighting predominantly out of europe needs someone to "man up" to him....and now we are going back to what we talked about before because you're not listening to what i've been saying. pretty well ANY PPV undercard fight will build momentum in the states - hell, it doesn't even need to be a household name so long as people get to see kessler in action and remmeber who he is. and winky is a momentum builder - even if he's been out of the game for a while.
And Bute's fight with Andrade was in Canada. So you weren't following my post. They both did exactly the same thing with Andrade in their home countries, except Kessler did it with HBO and more impressively. So Kessler's profile is above Bute's and the fight does not build his profile. You really think Winky-Wright is a mere momentum builder at this point? Oh how the mighty have fallen eh? That must be ideal for Kessler, because presumably its going to be easy to make, and to me thats a big fight. But everybody knows Winky is a ***** to deal with especially if you've gotta get him at 168 too. Another scratched off the list. I think the crux of the issue is I don't believe fighting a nobody on an undercard gets you a big profile like you. Boxing ain't big anymore like that, even in America. You beat Allan Green, so ****ing what? What does that do? Hardly anybody is going to watch you beat a mug like Allan Green on an undercard, even if you do it in America. It's not the Hatton situation where he brings over 20 million fans and has huge PPV potential back at home, to the point it hardly matters that he's fighting Juan Urango. Hatton can get the fights because of that. Kessler does not and will not have that, its a whole different ball game.
