Hopkins will fight, but he wont go out to hurt Roy.This fight is a farce and should not be going off.I dont know why anyone would want to watch it.I will watch pretty much any fight but ive zero interest in this joke.
Jones is no push over. Whenever you have rematches the first fight always plays a factor. Even if years go by, the fighters styles do not change as much as we think. I remember Hearns when he fought Ray in 1981, he was a jab and right hand guy who occassionally landed his left to the body, but in a way he was so fast then he overwhelmed guys with his speed. By 1989 his left to the body was a big part of his punches as were more body punching and inside holding. Yet when Hearns fought Leonard in June of 1989, he went back to the jab and right hand of his past and didn't throw many body punches compared to the Barkley or Kinchen fights-since he knew that if he landed more to the body it would leave him open to Ray's punches. My point? The fight will be similar to 1993 Hopkins/Jones fight more than anyone thinks. The difference is that Jones has been knocked out 3 times since and Hopkins none, but Hopkins is 45. This fight is very similar to Hearns/Leonard rematch of 1989. Leonard is Hopkins and Jones is Hearns. If Jones can take the punch of Hopkins and get his rhythm like Hearns did in 1989, then Jones can maybe win the fight on points. A very similar situation as then. Everyone thought Hearns was going to get stopped and he took a good punch, and Ray is the one who went down. So who knows. Does that fight apply here? Remember Kinchen knocked down Hearns in the previous fight and people thought Ray would have an early night. As it turned out Hearns was knocking Leonard down and Hearns did not go down in this fight. I am not convinced the Green fight applies here. Green is a harder puncher than Hopkins.
