Will Hopkin's mind games have any effect on Pavlik?

Not that I think Hopkins has no chance either mind you. Ol' Bernie has just the right style to expose a flaw in Pavlik's armor if there is one. I'm just not sure that BHop has enough workrate & stamina to compete against a very busy & technically sound fighter anymore.

No - I think Pavlik is very sound mentally. He knows himself and isn't insecure - he should be allright in that regard.

He might struggle to get anywhere Hopkins though through no fault of mind games.

 

heck no, Pavlik's feet too firmly planted on ground. Hopkins games didn't work against Taylor, Calzaghe and certainly not going to have any effect on Pavlik. The best think that could happen is for Pav to knock this old geezer out of boxing. He is ripping off the public and faked a low blow in rd. 10 to take a 3 minute rest against Zags.

 

What's grandpa Hops gonna do? Take out his dentures and pull his lower lip over his nose?

 

The only person Hopkins can affect mentally is himself when he tries to put together a coherent sentence.

It doesn't matter, the mind thing, because Kelly Pavlik isn't Joe Calzaghe. Bernard Hopkins at the age of 44 is still a much better fighter than Kelly Pavlik will ever be. If Hopkins will have the stamina he had in the Tarver fight, he will outclass Kelly Pavlik.
My only worry is the way Bernard looked drained at the end of his last fight.
