Bad style match up for Hopkins IMO. Bute's hand/foot speed will keep Hopkins wary. Hopkins probably gets outworked in a boring fight. Besides, i seriously doubt this fight happens.

I'm not sure the hopkins and the Bute you have in mind are living today.

No way, Bute would outbox him, and BHOP would start in with the headbutts, the same way he did with Winky.

I must recognize that I don't know as much about Bute. Nonetheless, It comes to mind that Bute is basically stuck between the Super Six Tourney on Showtime and little known contenders ( which means small revenues) and that Hopkins has not as many solutions as suggested by him and his people... To be honest, I think it's a fantasy fight and even more so than Dawson's since 1) a 44 year old doesn't come down 7 pounds to face a fresh, undefeated lefty in his hometown, not even for the biggest money split he can get, 2) Hopkins and Green seem to be on a collision course since Green stole Roy away from Bernard and also the chance to get revenge and riding into the sunset... Well, there's always a second way into the sunset - beat the man who beat the man who beat ya, 3) Green is taylor made for Bernie as he presses forward and steps in without the timing and the opportunity that Bute would employ in a more defensive minded stance.

If that fantasy fight would come to happen, it would be very, very contested tactically. Bernie always looking to set the tempo and clinch in to work inside, Licien always staying out and throwing long punches in circles and counter-clockwise, away from Hopkins right... Bute could steal it but I think a well prepared, most focused Hopkins would have the edge, even a slight edge in points... And yes, I did see his last fight very closely!

If he's looking at fights with Bute and Green, Bernard needs to man up and fight Dawson.

It was a pleasure to read your post. Even if I think Bute would win (mainly because he becomes better each fight and hopkins is getting older each fight), your post is made of valid points. Respect. :good
