This is a bit long but plz take some time to read and comment I got a mate whos promoting a fight night back in my hometown not this next weekend the one after and its tuesday now.... and he needs a few boys to make up some numbers and since i will be in town that weekend i told him im more then happy to get in the ring for him... id actually really enjoy gettin in... but the prob is i moved away from home in early january and haven't trained since about mid dec.... and have always taken up drinkin a bit as i have recently turned 18..... I've had 17 fights in my time and won the Australian Boxing League featherweight championship last year.... will my experience get me through?? i wont be matched with someone of equal experience and stuff like i was fighting when in trainin prop coz i would get smashed but maybe with someone a bit smaller or who has just had a few fights or has possibly been out of the gym for a while aswell... and i still feel my fitness is ok better then the average persons but only just probly haha soon as i find out if i got a fight or not i will do my very best to get out and run everyday (depends on work) and i know i can get into a boxing gym and just train on my own saturday for 2 maybe 3 hours??? so basically does anyone reckon that i will survive and put on a good show?????
If you've had 17 fights, I'm sure you're experienced enough to know how ready you are, better than anyone on here can figure from what you write I've seen some of my friends fight in similar circumstances and they did ok
Im pretty sure you will be ok as long as you relax. If you get nervous about being inactive it will affect your stamana the most, and you will be tired after 2 or 3 rounds. How long is the fight?
Sure, but get in some good shape to: a) not get hurt b) not embarrass your ass c) not embarrass your friend
You wont be able to improve your fitness in such a short period of time. But you will be able to shake off that ring rust you have developed and get some of your technique back. I'd put some time in the gym by doing 6x1 minute rounds shadow, skipping, bag and padwork all at a fast pace, just to sharpen up your skills before your bout. As your an experianced boxer you should be able to carry your opponent staying relaxed and jabbing and moving, you shouldnt have to get involved and make hard work of it.
yeah i dont reckon id go to bad.. probly a bit rusty but i think i know enough and to bable to handle 3x2min rouns for and exibition fight... if i figth anyone it would prob just be a mate just to make up numbers and id tell him whats up before or it would be some other person whos know good... i should be alright to stay out of anything to hard for the fight and put on a good enough show.. plus i dont feel to massivly unfit
2 min rounds shouldn't be too bad, but put in some work for the next week or so, mainly for the reasons pointed out by MrSmall.
Shouldn't you be training and not wasting time posting stupid questions on a forum? Not trying to be a *****, but coming here asking if you'll be ok in a fight.... how the **** are the people on this forum meant to know?
