In the current Heavyweight era, Mike Perez has a chance (with improvements to his technique & conditioning) to be another "David Tua" & beat Ring ranked contenders & ex-beltholders... however, in the '90s which was stacked with big punchers, he would likely be "nothing special", judging by what we've seen so far in footage of his first 16 bouts.

I think he'll be found out with that open defense. Especially up against a big heavyweight with good ko power. Smaller heavies need to be a lot more elusive, and more evasive....

is problem is that he's incredibly inactive.

    Yeah,hes fought 16 fights,but 5 of them we're on 2 nights!

I get the distinct impression his hearts not in it. Another Solis. Mountains of ability, but without the will.

There is Never going to be another Iron Mike.

that being said this young fighter looks promising but he hasnt exactly faced any solid name so far where he could have show us what he's got.

But I will be watching him, interesting boxer.:good

Tyson in his early days was also a freak athlete, with great technical boxing skills. None of the guys mentioned are athletic or skilled enough to be compared to Tyson. As for Perez, he is NOT the puncher Tyson was and he needs to get his conditioning right before he steps up.

Tyson had some sort of methodical approach to boxing, a lot of people made him out to be some sort of rough brawler but in fact the dude had the sweet science down to a tee.

Perez doesnt have the speed and niether does he turn his punches like Mike did to get maximum power in, he just swarms his opponents with his punches
