Exactly where did i say that learning an entire discipline was easy??? i said learning to SPRAWL and how to GET UP WHEN TAKEN DOWN doesnt take long to learn. even a dunce like you should be able to acknowledge that. Theres some smart boys on these boards james and theyll catch you out on this **** so if your going to hang around my suggestion would be to read posts properly before you shoot your big mouth off with your sarcastic bull****. But that may be hard for you because as we know reading comprehension is difficult, dickhead.
It has nothing to do with boxing vs mma, but it would be a shock if toney is not completely embarassed in this fight. ray mercer would have a better shot cuz at least he has a little experience and actually possesses one punch ko power. toney's about as shot as mercer, has no mma experience, and would need to land an accumulation of punches even with the smaller gloves to ko coulture or even hope to get a decision.
Yes, I would agree. There are some smart people on these boards. But, if I had to go off solely on what you're saying here, I can confidently say that you're far from one of them. Learning to sprawl is not easy. It's not just leaping back and throwing your legs out. May look that easy from your chair, but for those of us that practice MMA, we know it's not. And as for learning to get up? Yeah, not easy. And you don't learn it quickly. Especially if the someone on top of you is adept with ground control. So, yes, I'll refine what I said earlier to comprehension is difficult. Work on it. Dickhead.
oh here we go.. the techniques are dead easy to learn and you know it. whether or not a person is any good at it is a different story. Dont believe me? ask chuck lidell. NO submission experience whatsoever to the best ground defence in the game within one year. Or how about maurice smith who learnt how to get world class wrestler mark coleman off him after 6 months of proper training.
You lost ALL credability when you said that Chuck Liddell had "no ground experience whatsoever". You do know that he was a very good college wrestler, a starter for his wrestling team all four years. Again, it would help to actually know what you're talking about prior to your talking about it. (And as for Maurice Smith, I don't think you have there a scenario where he was completely oblivious to grappling and then went from zero to being able to easily (which I don't think it was easy for him) defend himself from the likes of a wrestler like Coleman)
My bad, ill wear that. i meant to say no submission experience to the best ground defence in the game within 1 year.
Then, again, you'd wrong. It's simply amazing. Takedown defense does not equal submission defense (or "ground defense") Two completely different things.
whatever you want to call it is fine with me. I couldnt give a ****. The point is if toney cant learn the techniques required to sprawl and get off the ground with the best trainers in the world in his face all day, every day for six months then he is ******ed. Whether or not he can excecute those techniques against someone as highly skilled as randy remains to be seen.
It's not what I want to call it, it is what it is. And no matter who is training you and no matter how often you're not going to get to the point of being actively competitive with an olympic (alternate) wrestler in Couture. 6 months just isn't enough to compete with years and years of experience and not only experience in wrestling but also years of experience adapting that wrestling to work best for Mixed Martial Arts. Please don't make me say anything more. It's not even fun slapping you down anymore. It's kind of sad. I feel like I'm talking to that HENDO guy.
i never said hed be competitive with randy. i said james might make it interesting for a round or maybe two (just by keeping proper distance and keeping it off the floor) then randy submits him. but yep ok you win james. im wrong.
Going "maybe two rounds" would be competitive with Randy. "Keeping proper distance and keeping it off the floor" is impossible for Toney. There really is no way Toney is going to be remotely prepared to keep Couture from getting a hold of him and slamming him to the ground. Once on the ground, he will pound him until the ref stops the fight. Randy WON'T submit him. That's not his game. He is an excellent ground and pounder. His favorite thing is to just stay in the half guard and pound his opponent - though Toney WON'T be able to maintain half-gaurd anyway - he'll likely get mounted, or Randy will simply stay in side control and beat him into submission. Toney, even if he trains very hard, simply won't be able to avoid getting taken down. It's NOT EASY to learn - especially against world class wrestlers. Some people are talking about Randy clinching and pushing him into the cage and stuff like that - but that just won't happen against Toney. He does that against other skilled grapplers. Toney will be impotent in there once Randy gets his hands on him. Toney CAN KO him, though. No doubt, he has a slim chance of landing a shot, stunning him, then following up and KOing him. The chances are very slim though. Very, very slim - but certainly possible. I predict it'll be over in less than 30 seconds. No way it gets out of the first round. Toney will get raped by the old man, and be embarrassed - and I bet he makes excuses, like "the ref stopped it too soon, I was just about to get him off of me..".
Maurice Smith :thumbsup Trained with him when he was here for the Stan fight. Great skills, was great to see him transition and be so successful. Underated IMO. Might start a topic on Mo.
Alessio Sakara and Marcus Davis might disagree with you... But I agree. Toney has a punchers chance, which is a fancy way of saying he's ****ed.
