Will James Toney knocking out Couture finally be the nail in the coffin for MMA?

If Toney submits Randy Couture I'll eat my own head South Park Blane style.

 

I don't think it will happen, but you have to admit, it would probably be the nail in the coffin for MMA.

But chances of it occuring are extremelly slim to none.

 

You make almost no sense in the huge majority of your posts.

How would that be the nail in the coffin? Is Toney not allowed to learn submissions? Is he only allowed to use his boxing? No. If, by a miracle (and it'll take one for this to happen) Toney submitted Randy Couture it would simply mean that Randy wasn't as diligent as he usually is (say when he fought Nogueira) and that Toney has learned an immense amount about submission grappling in a short period of time and applied it well. How would that mean the "final nail in the coffin"? It's not like grappling knowledge is exclusive to some people and not available to others...

 

It would show that Toney has the ability to beat arguably the best MMA fighter of all time at his own game.

I'll say right now that Toney has the ability to beat an MMA Legend in an MMA match.

couture as the best of all time is a huge stretch- way too many losses. sakuraba, fedor, matt hughes, wanderlei silva, all have better resumes than couture.

I don't think it would be a big surprise for either guy to win. Couture has been chinny for a while now. James can catch anyone clean from a unseen angle and rock their clock. Randy is a solid wrestler and James is a boxer. Seems like a styles possibility. No shame getting caught by James Toney. If Randy stands and trades he is asking for it. It's not like it's a low level never has been coming to MMA. It is a ATG. Def not in his prime but I don't think Randy is either. Randy should win but you never know.

 

I can only see reading homoeroticism into any form of fighting if that is what you are watching it for. If all you can think about is gay sex when watching MMA, I think it says more about you than it does the sport.

Boxing and MMA are my two favorite sports, and they both have there place. Boxing is obviously more refined at this point since MMA has only been developing for the past twenty or so years, and only really rapidly developing in the past ten.

Couture will beat Toney easily unless he lands heavy when Couture shoots for the takedown.

 

I'll laugh my nuts off if Toney wins via anything other than a punch. Elbows are really easy to pick up once you have a boxing stance and torso twisting technique. Even knees are really easy to learn. Kicks is where some real science is involved.

Is someone like Toney even flexible enough to learn some kicks. I doubt it!

 

i can imagine toney trying to learn a sort of pawing kick to keep someone back or distract them and follow it with a straight but i doubt he's quick enough with his legs.

'nail in coffin' or even insult to mma even,only occurs if only No1 happens! any other result shows either toney has 'adapted'and become a mma fighter or he has lost!

boxing vs mma is a bull**** arguement unless you see it in roughly these terms.
