''I have been out for a few runs and I have done some work in the gym,” Calzaghe, who is recognised as the world's No1 light-heavyweight, said. “The guys at the gym, as well as being my training partners, are my pals. I went down to have a cup of tea and I've done a few rounds on the bags, too. I will probably do a full workout tomorrow, you can't just sit around drinking.” Before the bout against Jones, Enzo Calzaghe, Joe's father and trainer, cast some doubt over whether he would be able to resist continuing his career, saying that he thought he might be back in the gym in “a month or so”. Calzaghe - whose unbeaten record stands at 46 bouts - says that he will make up his mind when he goes on holiday in January. “I haven't been away since the fight,” he said. “At the moment I'm more worried about Christmas, I've still got a lot of shopping to do.”
The biggest issue for Calzaghe is not whether he would like to box again but whether there is a suitable opponent to make it worthwhile. His poorest performances have been when he has lacked motivation and he sees no one around who can ignite the spark for him, despite several throwing their name in the ring.

“Chad Dawson [the IBF light-heavyweight champion] is a good fighter, but he is not really a name, he can't draw flies,” Calzaghe said. “Carl Froch [the new WBC super-middleweight champion] had a good win, but he won a belt I gave up. He is after me for a payday and I'm not going to give it to him.”
Calzaghe has been busy this week promoting his new DVD, Joe Calzaghe - My Life Story, an in-depth documentary about his life and career.

If Joe is getting back in the gym already I think he will fight but he just needs awhile to find the right guy.

dawson doesnt need to draw "flies" if he fights in wales. joe fills it fighting mario veit. so thats not a good excuse not to fight Dawson...who else is there?

Calzaghe is just hitting his stride professionally and financially. You can tell when he comes out of the tunnel for his ringwalks how much the guy truly loves the spotlight. He's still got plenty of legs left. It's a shame he's so preoccupied with his undefeated record. He would be best served pushing himself as much as possible and taking the toughest imaginable challenges. Why would you want to fight your whole life only to have people question you? It's unthinkable to a warrior. Whatever he does next says everything about who Joe Calzaghe is.

No it doesnt and what you say is false. People will question you however 'great' you are and whatever youve done/and whoever you are. calzaghe i want to see him fight again but so what if he goes up againts a dawson. some say he lost hes last bout, hes young and if he wins, wed here-he was just exposing the young fighter stuff, he wasnt world class and all that. Chad dawson is nothing near a legend or a realy great fighter which if this was to be hes last fight hed want to fight. Its more a question of theres no rea obvious opposition out there for him to face. Ive even heard glen johnson! glen johnson!!!!! whats the point in fighting him as possiblly your last fight. You beat him then what...he lost many times and he was old

If you think Calzaghe won't win over a great majority of his critics by beating someone like Dawson or Hopkins in a rematch, you're a complete ****ing idiot. ******s and haters don't count. Beating a credible threat would do wonders for Calzaghe at this point. Most of the media has already stated in advance that a Dawson win would seal his legacy. That's extremely generous considering the circumstances.
