I never liked Lampley. He used to commentate with Alex Wallau on ABC back in the 1980s. I liked Wallau, but I never liked Lampley. Lampley did the Hearns/Andries fight in 1987 with Wallau I think. He is not really a boxing guy, he was more an all around sports guy. I guess so was Merchant. One guy I love is Al Bernstein. Always liked his knowledge and honesty and warmth for the sport. Bernstein really loves boxing.

I don't think it will be that big of an issue. If there are exchanges, his eyes will go to Nonito's shots, as they often do with the fighter he prefers, and he'll get excited about it. But Kellerman tries to balance it out and Roy does as well even if he also cheer-leads.

I might not even listen to the commentary, I don't really like hearing any commentary I prefer to watch and score with no influences, but than I'll listen to commentary later, but the level of bias will be mind blowing, I might pass on it. Lampley is such a puppet, he really thinks we watch for him.

The cries of bias on HBO are exaggerated. They aren't biased every single tie out. Nobody had any problem stating that the fight was not close at all and that Rigondeaux was dominating. Kellerman pointed out point blank that he couldn't think of anyone in the division who could hang with that version of Donaire in the ring, meaning he wasn't discrediting Rigo by implying Donaire was somehow not at his best.

I like Jim Lampley alot. He has alot of energy and enthusiasm in his voice which is refreshing. He's also pretty passionate about boxing which is good.

Larry Merchant needed to retire, this man looks like he has no energy at all.
