No. He shouldn't. No personal grudge against the guy but he was an ordinary fighter. If you let every dude who goes out on his shield after having a decent to good career into the hall of fame, it loses its value.

If he gets in, it will be a real shame.

he should not, hof is for great awesome fighters, atg for the most special best out there, john ruiz is just a regular dude with a boring style that was active in a weak era.
Probs for him showing heart against haye though.

For the only fact that he was the first hispanic heavy weight champion, I think that's enough, regardless of how annoying his fighting style was.

    no its not.
If that was the case there would only be 25-30 fighters in the hall of fame instead of hundreds

He's got the first Latino heavyweight champ to sway things, but it seems unlikely for a long time.

If you only look at his record on Boxrec, he may have a chance.

I think it will be a while, but I bet he will. First Latino heavyweight champ will help him get in quite a bit. Love him or hate him, he did much more with his mediocre ability than many more fighters much more talented.

If Barry McGuigan can make it, then so can John Ruiz. And it's a shame.
