Those guys just love Mexican fighters, and some of those guys were sore at the fact that Cal was ranked above JMM, and other Mexican fighters pfp. I love Cal and Jones. Would've been a great fight in their primes...

The version of Roy who faced Calzaghe was NOT shot.

He was well past prime, but still a top six LHW (and still is).

Calzaghe dominated in nearly every aspect of the game INCLUDING HANDSPEED and Maneuvers.

Prime Roy would have, IMO, beaten any version of Joe.

As Roy has pointed out, it would have been one of his biggest challenges, but most agree that Roy would have won.

Therefore, as I mentioned before they fought, I don't believe their fight adds or subtracts much, if anything, to or from either guy's legacy.

Roy, while not shot, was too far past his best for the fight to have been significant.

I'd agree with that, it makes sense unlike some people who've invaded this thread.

You must be referring to one of the forum's better-known Calzahghe haters.

Calzaghe will never get full credit for his achievements from some people.

These people are the ones who claimed Lacy was overrated after Calzaghe destroyed him, yet they are now saying Jones is back after dominating the same fighter 3 years on.

    It will never change.

The difference between Calzaghe and Jones is that Jones never learned the basic fundamentals of boxing. It was always pure athleticism. That and Calzaghes freakish work rate.
But to answer your question I think
it does bumps JC's win over Jones up a bit. I rate it over Hopkins. It isn't like Jones stopped trying to win (unlike Hopkins acting) Plus the fact that Taylor went the distance with Lacey and Jones made him quit. (and I hope Lacey retires)

I want to see Jones VS Hopkins 2 !

Come on pappa HOPKINS make it happen !

I can assure you that Jones learned the basic fundamentals of boxing.

Calzaghe's win over pre-shoulder injury, pre Calzaghe-ruined, prime, undefeated SMW champion Lacy, was an excellent victory, especially in the manner in which it unfolded, contrary to 'expert' predictions.

But now, with 20-20 hindsight, it becomes denigrated by the same 'experts.'

If Roy keeps proving he is still good, then Tarver and Calzaghe really beat Jones. Funny how if he keeps on fighting and winning, it legitimizes them.

No way! as long there are Calz/euro haters around, excuses like "old and shot" will pop up all over the place! Just look at threads about Calz, its the BS over and over again! Some "haters" will hopefully get some sence in time.. but most are completely out of reach!
Jones will never be able to change that!
