will José Luis Castillo be a decent sparring partner for khan or is he too shot?

Will castillio be good enough to prepare for maidana, castillio is a pretty good inside fighter and i can remember watching 24/7 and seeing the clips they showed of him against pac in sparring he was really handing it to pacquiao and this was before the cotto fight, theres no way there gonna put khan in with light punchers to help him prepare for maidana he needs to get hit hard to see how he deals with it if things get pear shaped.
i predict maidana will win this fight by early stoppage round 2. khan will get knocked down a couple of times in the 1st but will be too hurt to make it through the second

Good sparring partner strategically. Castillo will cut off the ring, go to the body, be tenacious etc That is what Khan wants. When you step it up though that is when ring age will let Castillo down.

It's a shame José Luis Castillo is reduced to being Khan's sparring partner.

Roach offered Castillo sparring with Khan, Castillo said he would rather fight Khan for his title.

    Castillo is desperate for money.

Great sparring partner. He is still sound offense wise. With big gloves and headgear his faded punch resistance should not be a problem.

I think a man with Castillo's experience and ring craft should be considered a good sparring partner for anybody !!!!

Could he live with Khan in the ring ??? i think not !!!

I think he's probably too textbook to really replicate Maidana.

Alright, his hands and feet are slower now which makes him something more like.... but still, his punches are a bit too correct for my liking.

I'm not really sure who could replicate Maidana really, the Hatton of the Pacquiao fight with wild single shots and no defence would be better but his feet are still too fast

Your never gonna get a like for like sparring replica... but anything near enough can help to an extent.

Yep, considering you're never going to get an exact match or they'd be in this fight themselves, and you're certainly not going to get a 140lb'er with as big of a punch its a pretty decent option. I think Castillo is more of a genuine pressure fighter with sound technique than a brawler like Maidana, he can fight on the inside and find the spaces under the elbows whereas Maidana's more about knocking the door down with a sledge hammer. He doesn't quite have that sneaky right hand from range that Maidana somehow has an uncanny knack of finding the target with, but overall you could nit pick at anybody they pick.

The last Castillo fight I watched live in full was the Lugan fight. That was a couple of years ago now and even back then looked more than shot, he was shockingly bad.

I imagine he's lost a fair bit of speed but for the inside and body work he'd be invaluable.
