Five years ago (although it seems much longer), Kelly Pavlik was the Fighter of the Year. The following year, Pavlik seemed to be on his way to repeating as Fighter of the Year, when he lost to Bernard Hopkins. After losing to Hopkins, Pavlik's life took a downward spiral, as a sequence of unfortunate events took place. Pavlik put on an impressive performance tonight. Is this the beginning of Pavlik's return to the top?
No. I thought he looked atrocious tonight. Slow, extremely easy to hit, didn't have the same snap on his shots, jab wasn't consistently thrown, and his timing and accuracy were crap. He's done at the championship level. Done. ...and I actually want to see Pavlik reign again.
