will Kelly retain his title against WILLIAMS

Man, you guys are just setting yourselves up for a "Williams was over-rated" "Williams was a blown up WW" excuse-fest when Pavlik stops him.

 

Yet he was smacking around Winky Wright for 12 straight rounds and he can't hurt Pavlik? No one has ever beaten Winky the way Williams did. I don't think Pavlik's chin is good as Winky's, and if you watch that fight Williams used his height and reach VERY well. Fact is Williams is taller and has a longer rach than Pavlik, his right jab is very good too.

My guess is . . . Pavlik's gonna send him to dreamland in the late rounds.

 

Its interesting how many split views there are on this fight, and also how many people now dislike Pavlik. This time last year he was the great hope of American boxing, but one loss and everyone has turned on him!

God only knows why Pavlik would take this fight. He was out-bullied by B-Hop and the same will happen with Williams, IMO, even though he has only fought at 160 once.

 

KP by late round KO. I like PW and want to see him do well, which is why he should hang out at 154 and rule his kingdom. KP will hurt him at MW.

 

KP = 6'2 1/2 reach 191cms

PW = 6'1 reach 208cms (6'10 ish)

PW has a reach that would rival most guys 6'7 - case in point Wladimir is at a reach disadvantage against PW.

How the hell did WW's ever get near this guy.

Yes, but but must of would not be shocked if Williams won. I like Williams, but his not tested at 160. And Pavlik is argubually the best fighter his faced in his career. In additioj to being a hard puncher Pavlik is a smart boxer, has defense that imo gets underestimated, and a solid chin, and is a fighter who can fight well on the outside as well as on the inside. I expect it to be similar to the Margarito fight, where Williams will start fast but as the rounds go by Pavlik strength will become evident and wear out Williams. In order to that though, Kelly needs to pressure Wiliams, if he doesn't do that and just sits in the middle of the ring Williams is just going to throw cornocupia of punches and win.

 

Yes, Kelly Pavlik is going to KO or stop Paul Williams in the middle rounds. It'll be a good competitive fight with Williams having an early edge but Kelly's power will be too much and it will get to Paul around round 4 and it will all go downhill from there. Paul Williams has never faced a puncher like Kelly Pavlik and with the body type Paul Williams has, it looks like he may have a Tommy Hearns like chin at 160, not to say a body type will say what type of chin Paul Williams or any other fighter has, but tall lanky boxers generally don't have great chins. That's just my theory for the fight.

 

I forced myself to watch the Wright/Williams fight again. Imagine Kelly landing the shots Winky did early on.
