He said he would have to evaluate and see if he still had it and he mentioned the cuts maybe it was just the dissapointment of losing.

But did it seem to you like he may not continue?

I think he was just very disappointed he lost so badly. The cuts can be healed and or worked on by a plastic surgeon. the swelling of the cheeks will gradually go down. Kessler got the **** beat out of him and he was defensive in the after fight. That is a natural reaction.

Kessler just ran into a style that he couldnt handle. Too many angles, the south paw switching, and definitely the inside fighting.

He will go on he just needs to put the fight behind him, it will happen in time. This wasnt a Victor Ortiz type ***** talk.

That was my immediate thought .... this is why i favour froch to beat kessler if he continues ... kessler took a bad beating tonite and does he have the heart to continue ?

I hope so as ive always been a huge fan and had the pleasure of watchin him fight live against JC .. but he looked 70% the fighter tonight ... shame !

It's a shame Kessler didn't have something like this happen when he faced Calzaghe. He might have been a better fighter by now.

What do you mean "something like this"? Are you talking about the refereeing or the cuts?

I think he will stay in. Kessler vs. Froch would be a good fight. I would pick Kessler in that one.

Ward outclassed him...domination is the wrong word. Especially when it took the sloppiest of tactics to win. Bull**** fight. Bull**** champ. **** Ward.

Well you might not think Calzaghes win was as dominating as Ward's, but it was still a one-sided fight in Wales. I think Kessler did much better against Calzaghe, but he still lost clearly to Joe Calzaghe. Ward dominated Kessler, but I really don't think that Kessler is the type of fighter who change his style and learns new tricks just because he lose, in fact very few fighter can do that, so in any case there would be no benifit for Kessler if tonight happened 2 years ago, Ward (and Calzaghe) are two fighters that can give Kessler a hard fight anytime, anyplace although there are many differences in Kessler 2 losses. I'm all cried out now, your turn proffesor

Damn, I was rooting for Kessler and his ass got tapped. Seriously this is the 2nd fight where the guy I'm rooting for gets torn up massively.

After all the severe cuts caused by Ward's head butts, I would not blame him for quitting. Ward will not fight anyone anywhere except in his hometown, now I know why.

He was understandably disappointed. The issue is not if he comes back but how he comes back. Ward was persistently dirty, but if he doesn't accept that he lost because he just wasn't good enough, he'll continue to have problems with that kind of "slick" fighter. He didn't seem to learn much from the Calzaghe fight, either, with all the hand excuses floating around. Making adjustments is key.

When he lays out Froch, he'll get his confidence back. I just hope he starts to show a bit more versatility in the long-run.
