Everyone on ESB is getting excited for the rematch, but no-one's entertained the possibility of Kovalev getting robbed by the judges like the 1st time.

The rematch is still in the US, with 3 US judges, it spells danger for Kovalev. I think it'll go to a decision and he'll get robbed again.

Andre 'Son of Gift' Ward via Robbery.

The judges should of course be neutral, neither American or Russian. But Ward was evidently carefully negotiating to get the rematch done. I wouldn't be surprised if the judges is something team Kovalev had to accept. Sure they can't stipulate that the judges have to be American, but Ward could contractually insist that they can't contractually insist that they have to not be American, that they have to simply let they commision assign who they choose to. Which means very likely two if not all three will be.

I've no doubt that's exactly what's happened. He's not known as "loaded dice" Ward because his fights are on even terms!!!

If he got robbed once he can get robbed again. Though im not calling the 1st one a robbery myself. I think he did enough but i think he could of done more and if he had done more i dont think even those judges could of found enough reasons to give it to Ward. Not the 1st time ive seen Kovalev drop the work rate drasticly in the mid to late rounds at the expense of losing rounds on the cards.

If he cant stretch out his stamina for the full 12 and make it harder for Ward i see Ward just doing what he did in the 1st fight, making it ugly, tieing Kovalev and picking up some questionable points in close rounds.

Stop calling the first fight a robbery FFS.
I had Kova winning 114-113, with many close rounds. Swing one round to Ward and you've got him winning.

It was a close fight and the rematch might be close as well. Deal with it.

Kovalev has to win his rounds convincingly and not totally phase out the second half. If not it will be the same result.

No way,the outcry was such that kovalev will get the benefit of doubt. Say the exact same fight played out we'd looking at 10/2 rounds for kovalev and that'd be the closet of the 3 judges

Wouldn't call it a robbery when it was a close fight, but robbery gets used so much now.

If you watched the undercard, where Maurice Hooker was outboxed all night and got a draw rather than a loss - that was a robbery.. Ward Kovalev was a close fight with a controversial decision.

I hope the judges score the fight based on what they are seeing in front of them and don't take into account the opinion of boxing fans who thought it was the wrong one!

Yes that WAS a robbery of the most brutal nature. One of the worst ive seen. I remember scoring the Kovalev fight and i gave him the fight but thought it was a good job he scored that knockdown. Too close to call it a robbery.

This. It's Kovalev's fault for letting Ward get back into the fight. In the first 3 rounds Kovalev was dominating , but Ward is a smart fighter that will exploit any weakness he can find, which he did. Kovalev gave away at least 5 rounds by letting Ward land body shots at will.

I had Kovalev ahead by 3 points in their first fight. Add to it that he was a defending champion and he should have been given the decision in the eyes of all but racially/nationally motivated observers. Will he get robbed again? Possibly, his promoter is as incompetent as GGG's trainer.

If the fight was in Europe, Kovalev could win. If the fight was in Latin America, Kovalev could win. If this fight was anywhere else in the world, Kovalev could win.

But this fight is in Las Vegas. And in Vegas, Kovalev will have to fight Ward, the judges, the ref, the crowd, HBO and the Nevada State Boxing Commission all at the same time.

As I said before the first fight, if Ward is still conscious at the end of the fight, he will win.
