Its being discussed elsewhere if the beating laid on Cotto in the second half of Saturdays fight will leave him less of a fighter.

This got me thinking , the fight reminded me of Frazier v Ali 1 in that the less skilled fighter prevailed through sheer determination and guts.

How much (if anything) will that have taken out of Margarito ? He is a tough MF but during the first half of the fight his head was getting snapped around like a speedball , has he given too much of himself for the victory ?

Just got to see his next fight, because he was in a brutal war. Also his face was ****ed up pretty bad. But I think he should be alright

It was really close but Margarito wasn't over the hill or undersized. The fight really shows how good Cotto was. I'm not sure if Margarito drew blood.

Paul Williams is the biggest risk out there. Margarito looks ordinary against anyone else whose active.

BOTH Cotto and Margarito's next fights are going to real interesting. Cotto's will be looked at a lot more closer as it was his first stoppage loss and he did take a lot of shots. But Margarito took a ridiculous amount of punches as well.

Kellermen was definitely right on the money when he said that they both looked to be landing with equal amount of power, its just that Margarito was able to take the punches much better then Cotto. But it will be interesting to see if those power shots will have any long term effect on Margarito.

My thoughts exactly , both guys gave eveything they had and although Margo barely showed an effect ( other than puffy eyes ) the human body isnt made to take abuse like that

That said I hope both guys go on to even bigger things as these are the fights that we watch boxing for. The Buddy i watched this with ( not a boxing fan ) had to sit through Thompson v Klitschko as he was taping it for me , that fight was like a thank you !

I dont know some people are "blessed" with that kind of skull and chin , but the answer to that can be answer when he retires and time past by, hope he does't get the same fate as Ali, Benitez and many others

Those punches will almost definitely take a long-term toll on Margarito. As for now, he will continue to block punches with his chin and do just fine. Cotto's people, on the other hand, will have to be careful in his next fight. He needs some tune up work. I really don't think he wants that rematch right away. If he suffers the same fate it will crush his career.
