I'll hold out hope that Maskaev will have what it takes to beat Peter, but he's been out of the ring for quite a while now (as has Peter) and he's much older than Peter.
I'm betting on maskaev, which will jinx him and give peter the win!!! seriously the big question is has peter's chin been dented by klitschko. mccline doesn't hit hard and had sam in all kinds of trouble. if he has slipped then maskaev will hit peter because he has the better skills. it might simply come down to who hits who hard first.
Mccline is very dangerous early in fights, he floored guys like Brock, Bryd, Briggs, and most recently Peter. Peter did not have the proper sparring partner in time for that fight, he only knew who his oppenent was a week beforehand. Peter will be more than ready to fight Maskaev in March, Peter will be at his best and a early knockout is in the forecast.:yep
That is true; McCline has his flaws but he does tend to be a good starter. It's always the second half of fights where he seems to tank it.
His stamina is his biggest weakness, but his power is by far underrated. When your 6'6 270, your more and likely going to have stamina issues, unless your last name is Vaulev, now that man is freak of nature.:yep
O.K. Punisher33, so Mclines power is far underated and he is very dangerous in the first several rounds. O.K. Aren't you the dude who is constantly questioning Wlad Klitchko's chin? If Mcline is so very dangerous early and such a K.O. artist with his huge 6ft. 6 in. frame why couldn't he stop the supposedly weak-chinned Wlad? Wlad took everything Jameel had to offer and that was when Wlad fought much more aggressively, prior to Emmanuel Steward's hiring. What's your excuse now? How did Wlad's questionable chin hold up to the monstrous punching prowess of big Jameel? Huh?
Good question, I have watched this fight maybe 10 times over the last 5 years, Mccline fought a very catious fight in which Wlad was able to pretty much pick him apart. I dont remember Mccline landing anything significant in that fight at all, I think he respected Wlads power way too much in that fight which led to Wlads late TKO of him. When Mccline lets his hands go early, he is dangerous, but by the 7th round hes breathing out of his mouth and has limited power. It was a simliar to the Brewster/Wlad 2, Briggs was content to stand outside and try to box Wlad, big mistake.
I think Peter must now question his own ability to take a hard shot, after Mccline was sweeping the floor with him. And when Big O catches Peter with a shot like the one that put Rahman on the concrete, Peter will think Oh F***K.
Isn't this the longest period of inactivity for Maskaev? If not it's close. It's very possible that he comes in cold & slow & gets caught with something big. I certainly hope he's been training & sparring during his extra long vacation.
Exactly. People who are underestimating Peter due to the McCline fight are going to be in for a BIG surprise, when the real glass jaw in this fight is shattered. It won't take long either. If Maskaev is still around by the 5th, I'll be shocked.
Oleg could def. land that big right hand but I'm afraid he might be a bit out of practice. He was on a bit of a roll there since beating up that Difiagonbon guy. The Big "O" is a good inside fighter with proven power but will he land first? Will he follow up if he does? The bottom line is I wouldn't bet a red cent on the outcome here. Any result is truly possible.
Peters has been exposed a couple of times now, and has an eggy chin. however there are also massive negatives about Maskaev and there's a reason Peters is a big betting favourite
