will Mayweather embrace the role of the villain all-out in 24/7?

Good point. Just going after Marquez won't do it. He needs to trash the Mexican flag like Bhop did to the PR flag ahead of the Tito fight. If Floyd is successful in really riling up the Mexican-American boxing base, he can do a million PPVs. Especially considering the undercard.

I'm on about a potential Mayweather v Pacquiao fight, I agree that the Marquez fight probably won't do 600k buys, sorry about any confusion. :good

co-sign on most of what you said! If Floyd sales more than Pac did against marquez than we know who will deserve the lions share come time for the contract for the Floyd-Pac to be signed...

3 common opponents and Floyd wil have outsold Pac in all 3!

Floyd haven't seem the same in the trash talking department recently except with brian kenny that was funny.

lol when floyd gave the brits the middle finger wearing a aig jearsy was classic. and they still got some love for him.

but i see floyd playing cool for a bit, not really dissing marquez.

That role is what made him as boxing public figure and quite frankly I don't think he can successfully change that and still draw the same attention at this point. He only has a few weeks to come out yapping and I'm sure he will...since money talks trash in his case.

It's a tough call from a PR perspective. There was so much flack about the weight that if Floyd said anything disrespectful about JMM, everyone would just be shouting "see, he admits its a mismatch". Now they have to weigh that vs. the interest "villian Floyd" produces... my guess is that he'll go on the offensive against other fighters (Pac/Cotto) and act the general a-hole, but he won't antagonize JMM much.

I doubt he would ever do that, Call dude all the names in the book but he still manages to show respect.

That said, This fight he is/will sell his comeback & try & prove he is the best.
He will work on throwing that in your face the whole time rather than try & belittle JMM. He will pump up JMM as much as he can, Just in case...

But will defo be bashing him some Hatton & De La hoya as wash-up's.

Getting the average Mexican/Mexican-American boxing fans riled up by going after them instead of just JMM will surely bring in more PPV sales.

I don't think we'll see an all-out villainous Floyd until he fights Pac. He'll be doing a lot of talking during this 24/7, but nothing like if it's him and Pac. He respects JMM more, and Mexican boxers in general.

i don't think Floyd should wear the black hat any longer...he doesn't have the kind of charisma of an Ali to make it work. He should try to sell tickets by beating the crap out of fighters in the center of the ring like the old PBF.

Floyd has never knowingly or intentionally played the villain in my view. He's just a Mayweather.

Has anyone ever listened to Floyd Sr. or Roger jack their jaws??

The ticket sales are not where they should be for a superstar like Mayweather and there is alot of doubt as to how well this fight will do on pay per view sales so Floyd might have no choice but to play the bad guy in order to try to sell this fight.
