Moorer went 10-0 (10) in LHW WBO world title fights but the best fighters he beat at LHW were R. Hassan KO5, F. Swindell KO6, and L. Stewart KO8.

He moved up to HW and won his first 13, 8 by KO. He picked up the WBO world title belt but vacated it. He won the WBA/IBF/Lineal HW World Titles by winning a Majority-Decision over Holyfield. He lost the title in his first defense LKOby10 Foreman. He had also beat A. Stewart KO4, B. Cooper KO5, and J. Smith W10. Moorer was down 4 times in these fights.

After Foreman he won his next 4, 1 by KO. He picked up the IBF HW world title and defended it twice. He beat M. Foster W10, A. Schulz WSD12, F. Both KO11, and V. Bean WMD12. He was now 15-1 (12) in World title fights.

He lost his next fight, LKOby8 Holyfield. He was down 5 times in the fight and wanted to continue after the 5th knockdown. He was giving Holyfield a tough time to be honest. This fight should have been as good as a win for Moorer but he didn't show much interest after this point. He took 3 years off and would go 13-2-1 (9) in his next 16 fights before retiring for good with a record of 52-4-1 (40)

    The answer might be:

    Yes, undeservedly.

    And:

    No, undeservedly.

Both have better skills than many HOFers.

    But.

Byrd lacked size, strength and punching power

Moorer lacked chin and was often lazy.

That's why they both were very good, but not great.

I'd like to see them both at HOF a bit later

I like both for the Hall.

Man, Moorer would frustrate me because sometimes he was so lackadaisical.

I really admired Byrd's ability to have some level of Heavyweight success, since he was basically a Lt. Heavyweight with some extra weight put on to make big $.

Who would win head to head? I'd take Moorer.

Can't see either of the them in the Hall, in my opinion.

I think Moorer being inducted isn't too far fetched. He was a two divisional champion after all and even a two time heavyweight champion at that.. he defeated a myriad of good fighters including holyfield ( though in poor form ), Bert cooper, alex stewart, Frans Botha, Axel Schultz, Leslie Stewart and retired with a respectable record with only defeats to quality men.. Certainly worse fighters have gotten into the HOF.. As for Byrd I'm not so sure. While neither man beat a truly good version of Evander, the one who Byrd fought was beyond past it. And some of Chris's best decision wins were close and controversial... Even the Vitali win was tainted in its own way..

The WBO Light Heavyweight title wasn't as impressive as it sounds today.

The WBO had just been created. They wanted to name some champions. I don't know if Emanuel Steward called the WBO or the WBO called him, but a bunch of Kronk fighters fought for and were the first WBO champs.

Kenny Mitchell, who fought the first WBO super bantamweight title, was trained by Benjamin Getty, who was a trainer at Kronk.

Gaby Canizales was the second WBO Bantamweight champion (apparently, Kronk didn't have a bantamweight to fight for the inaugural belt), and he was trained by Steward and fought out of Kronk at the time.

John David Jackson, who was fighting for Kronk, won the first WBO junior middleweight title over the shot Lupe Aquino. He'd done absolutely nothing to qualify for a title shot.

Tommy Hearns, of course, won the first WBO super middleweight title over James Kinchen.

Nobody ... including people in Detroit ... knew who Michael Moorer was. But Moorer fought for and won the first WBO light heavyweight title against Ramzi Hassan, who had been shut out by Virgil Hill previously. And when Moorer vacated, another Kronk guy nobody had heard of, Leeonzer Barber, was immediately given a shot at the vacant belt and won it.

And when Moorer moved up to heavyweight, he was immediately named the WBO number-one heavyweight contender. And that was back when Tyson, Bowe, Lewis, Ruddock, Morrison, Foreman, etc. were all contenders with no belts.

So there was some odd stuff going on there. Just about every name at Kronk at the time was either the first WBO champ in their division or the second.

And when Steward seemed to be done with the WBO, then most of the WBO champs were Frank ****** fighters out of England. And after that it seemed most of the WBO champs were Universum fighters boxing out of Germany. A Denmark promoter slipped in there, too, and all his fighters became WBO champs. That's one reason why the WBO took a while to gain some credibility.

Moorer never fought any of the top light heavyweights while he was there.

It depends upon who they have pushing for them. If a fighter gets the right writer/member pushing for him at the right time he can cakewalk his way in.

I think Moorer's participation in a notably stronger and more popular era may win him some points.
