    Why? Was there an opponent that backpedalled against Gayweather before?


    Even JMM never backpedalled against Gayweather despite being outweighed by at least 10 pounds. Even Gatti, who was at best a c fighter never backpedalled against gayweather.

    If it's to his advantage and he comes prepared to do so, Cotto is capable of using lateral movement to box off the back-foot to offset Floyd's pressure. Not sure that's what you meant, but that scenario is possible.

    Cotto was backpedaling against Joshua Clottey & I wouldn't consider Clottey as a constant pressure boxer
