Cotto backpedaled against Mosley, Margarito, Clottey, Pac n Mayorga so at some point I'm sure he will backpedal against Mayweather.. IMO he shouldn't though, he has no chance to win this fight on the outside; he has to be the bully if he wants to win.
Cotto seems to be discouraged in there at rough points in his fights since his 2 bad beatings Once Floyd starts landing pin point fight hands and left hooks Cotto will be discouraged and may back peddle a little Cotto is very bothered by body shots and Floyd would be wise to attack there
Floyd hasnt used his legs since the Marquez fight. He'll be walking Cotto down & Cotto will be on the back foot most of the night.
I've always stated that the backpedal leaves him open to a straight shot. I saw Ortiz backpedal with his hands down against Maidana. In return, Ortiz got hit with one of the meanest right hooks I've ever witnessed. Cotto's backpedal was key in losing the fights he lost. On the bright side, Cotto's new trainer seems to be working on the pivot and turn as opposed to the backpedal. The answer to that question rests on 2 things. It depends on how much pressure Floyd puts on Cotto (which he should fight the whole fight going forward if he's smart) and the severity of the punches landed on Cotto. If he gets clocked, he will backpedal to try to avoid contact. We'll just have to wait and see what happens. I think Cotto will get up for this fight because a victory over Floyd will set the 2 losses on his jacket straight.
Probably, yeah. But not because he's hurt (although that could happen, too), but because it'll be part of his plan to maybe force Mayweather to take the lead.
He was outweighed by 4 lbs. Mayweather weighs 150 on fight night give or take a pound. Unless Marquez LOST weight between the weigh in and the fight, he could possibly have been 10 lbs lighter.
Of course he will. This version of Mayweather is more aggressive these days. He backed up Mosley and Ortiz, he will do the same to Cotto as well.
Gabe Montoya of Max Boxing is apparently in the know and is 100% certain that Cotto is not only washed up completely, but also a gimme fight for Floyd. According to his "sources" Cotto shouldn't even show up since he was chosen to lose.
