Will moving up to LWW help improve Amir Khan's punch resistance?

Point is making 135 for 4 years when his body should be still growing and then adding muscles then to make the 135 weight taking body fat down to 4% or 5% could not body well. Khan was still making the weight because he trains very hard, maybe he works too hard in the gym. Roach's team use every extra pound right and make it count e.g Manny moving up weight. The extra 5 pounds should help Khan in terms of hydration (Body water levels) terms of eating and drinking well before this fight, he should feel better all round at 140 which is more his natural weight.

I thought it was generally agreed that Khan's claim of 5% bodyfat is bull****. It's not possible.

The guy (much as i want him to do well) just hasnt got much punch resistance Gomez had him hurt to the body as well as the head. The Watson knockdown in the ams is a joke youtube it if you havent seen it. He takes a clip on the chin (not evan a flush shot) and hes wobbly as sin and hits the deck. He wont have been down to 5% body fat back then i wouldnt have thought when he was much younger - i just dont see the step up helping him at all.
But granted Roach and co at wildcare will have him in the best shape he can be at 140

It is possible with all the strength work he was doing, adding all that muscle to the top half and still working in that weight limit of 135, something has to give.

Even if the weight can make a little difference to his chin it could be enough with improved defence under Dr.Roach. We will soon find out, this fight is coming around fast.

Unfortunately a weak chin is one of the only things that cannot be worked on in the Gym.

It was different for guys like Cotto who were practically starving themselves to make the weight therefore affecting their punch resistance but with Amir its a very weak chin. He has been floored too many times by guys who are known to be light punchers from a weight or two below Khan. Limmond is a cracking boxer and his gameplan was spot on against Amir but even he was probably surprised that he went down so easily. (even more surprised that the ref gave him a 13 second count then actually helped him up too lol )

That chin is cursed man. Pity really, he'd be quite good if he had even an average to good chin.

Cotto, Corrales, Pac and many other fighters looked to have fragile chins but went on to become P4P. We cannot underestimate what Khan goes through to make 135. Those final 3 or 4 pounds kill him. 24 hours simply isn't enough time to recover. It isn't just about recovering from the dryout, it is about recovering from the way he is eating and training just before the fight. He is killing himself to make weight, not hydrating etc Punch resistance isn't the only thing that is hurt. Speed, stamina, reflexes etc all become affected.

there are ways to improve punch resistence when getting hit on the chin. if you have a stronger neck and stronger core and thicker legs you will be able to withstand and punch to "the chin"

there is no way you can improve your punch resistance to the temple area.

all those body fat stories where nonsense, he'd be dead if it was low as he claimed it was.

despite the concencus being otherwise, he does make LW fairly easily. walks around at a lower weight than many other LW get in the ring at on fight night.

not going to be any less drained and will be getting hit by bigger guys, until he really bulks up into a 140lber
