Will Ondrej Pala be another victim of an early stoppage?

Dereck Chisora is heavily favored to defeat Ondrej Pala on Saturday, so he shouldn't need the ref to help him with a early stoppage.

But we saw Malik Scott up at the count of nine and not badly hurt at all, and a shady referee waved it off. :-(

Edmund Gerber was on his feet and wasn't hurt badly enough to warrant a stoppage, but the ref stopped it early for Chisora, who had been hurt by a big punch from Gerber in the previous round, so the Kazakh-born heavyweight still had a punchers' chance of winning.

Last week, I saw one of the worst early stoppages ever, with George Groves well ahead of a tired and desperate Carl Froch on my scorecard.

Will Ondrej Pala, who is really not a bad fighter but like many has been the victim of poor management, be yet another victim of an early stoppage in the UK?

I reckon so. It was a pity what happened during the Scott and Gerber fights cause both were enjoyable competitive fights prior to the ref ruining both.

    Maybe.

Then if Chisora doesn't need an early stoppage, why will the ref do it anyway?

In a way, early stoppages make the winning fighter look bad too, because it robs them of a deserved TKO/KO win later.

I think the recent serious brain injuries and deaths involved in professional boxing have caused many referees to re-think their decision making processes.

That had nothing to do with the ref stopping Malik Scott when he beat the count and wasn't hurt.

Scott wasn't taking a beating, I remember had him ahead on my card.

It had to do with a shady home referee wanting Chisora to get the stoppage win.

That is common place. If the home fighter gets hurt by the guy he is supposed to beat the ref finds a way to stop the fight shortly ther after to protect Hearns and WRRn investments. The UK is the most corrupt when it comes to helping the house fighter in anyway possible.

You guys are complete morons who don't actually know the rules of boxings.

Malik scott was counting out in the 'Act of rising'. A count lasts 10 seconds not 11 seconds and a boxer has to be up and ready to box by 10 seconds not get up by 10 seconds.

    The Gerber stoppage was fine.

The Pala stoppage was unsatisfactory but from a Refs point of view he couldn't have done anything else but stop that fight once Pala turned his back from the action after taking a few solid punches from Chisora.
