Johnson was still good, but fighting above his natural weight and aging - before fighting Marquez people were wondering if he could handle bantamweight effectively. Still an excellent win though, as Johnson had skills. Austin was too inactive, if I remember correctly, he was having management troubles. Marquez was expected to lose this fight, before Marquez beat Johnson, people were looking for Austin - Johnson (Austin being the favourite). I would not say prime, they were both 30+ but still excellent fighters.

Pac hasn't really beaten anyone of note, lately. Barrera is not an elite fighter anymore, either. He's not even a live underdog. If PBF beats Hatton, he'll have beaten Hatton and ODH in the same year. I think that trumps anything Pac has done this year.

And more important Barrera is going to beat Pacquaio, so the
Hatton-Mayweather fight doesn't really matter for this topic.

i repeat. the shame will be unbearable for you come october. i pity you. the pacfans won't rest til they get you out of esb

anyway, the only way pac will have a shot at number 1 is if pbf loses which won't happen

Is that mean that if Barrera beat PAc in October the PAc nuthuggers leave ESB also?

He's been the best p4p 4 a while in my opinion. I dont like the way PBF avoids the best WW's.

Pacquiao won't be considered for P4P #1 until he beats the best competition out there in his division, who in my opinion are Juan Manuel Marquez and Joan Guzman ...

On the other hand, if Mayweather beats Hatton, it doesn't cement his status at number one at all because Hatton is clearly not the best competition ... I'm anxious to see how Mayweather would come out of a fight with Cotto, Mosley or Williams.

Nope, unless he faces and beats JMM or Guzman convincingly like what he had done to Morales in their last fight, which I doubt will happen this year.

He does not need any PBF loss to have that ranking; it all depends on his showing.
