Will Pacquiao diminish Mayweather (again) in the Hatton fight?

I think everyone understands the basic set-up here:

    * Mayweather narrow split-decision victory over Oscar De La Hoya after PBF jumped up 1 weight class

    * Pacquiao shutout job and TKO 8 of ODLH after jumping up 2 weight classes

    The question then becomes this:

If Manny Pacquiao beats Ricky Hatton more convincingly/faster than did Floyd Mayweather, and also taking into consideration that the Pac-Hatton fight will take place at Hatton's preferred weight class of 140 lbs rather than the 147 that PBF and Rick fought at, how much further, if at all, would Pacquiao diminish what Floyd accomplished in those two fights and in his career relative to what Pacquiao would have accomplished (assuming, of course, you feel that Pac's dominating victory over Oscar cast a negative light on Floyd in the first place)? What effect would such an outcome have on Floyd's legacy and how people view Pac's vs Floyd's resumes and achievements?

    What's your take?

i rate pac man big time, but i do believ he caught de la hoya at the right time
even freddie roach would agree to that point
but hatton that is a different story

It would definitely take away the exclaimation point left on Mayweather's resume...I think at that point Floyd would definitely want to come out of retirement and beat Pacquiao to lessen the man's accomplishments. So that when things of this nature come up...it'll end with..."but after a lengthy retirement FLoyd Mayweather came out of retirement and won a fight against Manny Pacquiao." OR If he loses to Pac by KO or TKO then I think he MAY want to take a fight with one of the WW's just to sorta balance out the loss...if it's a decision loss, there will be a rematch or possibly even a trilogy.

So we'll see if this happens :think:hat

It would take them to just about even IMO with a fight between the 2 needed to see who deserves to be named `boxer of the decade.`

However, lets keep things in perspective, it was a completely different DLH that both guys fought, FMJ beat a fresher version at a more comfortable (to put it mildly) weight for DLH. We all know this.

And Pac will beat a Hatton that will not only be a better version of Hatton because of the new trainer, but at Hatton's best weight class...which slightly edges Pac IMO

look this is the way you look at it the de la hoya pac fought was a phew levels below the one that fought mayweather
but the weight classes pac man moved up to fight de la hoya who had fought at middelweight was amazing
i mean near everyone thought hoya was gonna blow him away (but it was the other way around)
pac man was the underdogg big style
so if a fully fit prepared ricky comes out to fight and pac end up stopping him or battering AT 140 (THE WEIGHT CLASS WHERE RICKY HATTON IS UNTOUCHABLE AS SOME PEEPS THINK)

then if and it a big if then mayweather v pac does not get made then i would have to choose pac above mayweather

If Pac beats Hatton imo he will have beaten a better prepared and a fighter who seems to have gone 'back to basics'.

i dont think Mayweather has improved him all that much, he has just had him go back to what he used to do pre Tszyu.

ODLH really looked pathetic in that fight, no doubt about it. Still, no one had ever done to him -- or even came close -- what Pac did. Impressive, especially after coming up 2 divisions.

That said, I don't think you'll be seeing Nacho B. in Oscar's corner again anytime soon. :deal

Hatton will be in a much better condition than when he fought PBF.

Pac winning this impressively will create much heated debates between fans regarding who's the best.:yep

doesn't mean a lot imo, Mayweather is still better p4p due to his skills... even though I like PAcman and cant stand Floyd I have to give him props.

If Pac thumps Hatton, I say forget the palaver, and set up a Pac/May fight.
