This is just a stay busy fight for Manny. Pac wants Floyd, But Floyd does'nt want to fight broke and desperate fighter.
no. why would he. It is not like Algeri is special in any way.. tall and lanky and tough yes, but aside from Provo the only other name is Taylor..
Better than the Rios fight for sure, and I would argue a little better than the Clottey fight. But Pac ain't coming off a KO loss nor does he still have time to do keep-busy fights so yeah, this is a bad fight for someone with perhaps 2-3 fights remaining in his career. Garcia at 140 would've been the better choice. I believe Pac said in a recent interview that he wants that fight too so let's see. Chris is a "champion" though and has significant height, reach and fight night weight advantage on Pacquiao so stylistically, this is not an easy match-up for Pac is Algieri would use those tools to his advantage.
Who else is going to China to fight Manny? Not many champions would do that. If China is a new market for boxing it needs big fights. I really dont blame anyone for this less than spectacular match up. Yeah Garcia would be better but do you really think a guy who fought Ron Salsa is going to go to China? It will never happen.
My main issue with the fight isn't Algeri, its Pacquiao. Unfortunately I think Pac has way too much stuff going on. He's a politician, he's gonna play pro basketball in the Philippines, he has a TV show (I'm not sure if its still on or not), he has public appearances etc... I question his focus on boxing. One thing I admire about Floyd is how focused he is in his craft, he really does put in the work and effort. This comment isn't to incite a flame war between *******s and *****s, its just to point out that what I think Manny lacks now is motivation. If Pac puts 100% into his training without any distractions then yeah, I think he'll beat Algeri but will only get credit for it if he does it convincingly. I don't think think Algeri is a walk in the park and I give him a shot at beating Manny but I do believe this fight is Manny's to lose if he isn't focused. It seems to me that Manny is just going through the motions until he retires.
depends on his opponents performance. If Algeiri makes a good fight then it will make a good show and get recognized. seems pac is just on keeping busy fights while waiting for mayweather. these two atg's are on different skill level. they will make one of them greater atg in this era should they fight each other
When you have names that Pac has on his resume Alegri win brings absolutely nothing to his legacy...ask your self who the f is Alegri
1.Mayweather isn't anything close to my idol. 2.This thread has nothing to do with Mayweather, dip****.
If Algeri brings his A game and lays it all out in the ring and an exciting match takes place the it'll be credible fight. If Manny wins and how dominant or not he is in the fight will dictate exactly how credible it is. Currently I have Pac/Floyd dead even on rankings right now; Mayweather lost ground with his underwhelming performance against Maidana, while Manny gained ground with his Bradley win.
If Algieri was 154 and Pac was moving up to take his title at Junior Middle then I would give him credit for beating him. But moving down to a catchweight to fight a guy who does nothing for your legacy proves nothing...this fight is to payon that tax bill, simple and plain.
